Wasn't a big leap to assume his comment was directed at me. It's not like he went on with the OP by giving advice on the new cars that were specifically being asked about (RAV4, CRV, etc.).
lol... I'm laughing my head off right now.
With regards to the CX5, we went to look at it again yesterday, and we fell in love with it. Most fluid and clean dash out of all the CUVs we looked at (see original post by me for ones looked at). Spacious as hell, and the dash and seats and overall product look and feel really high quality. Ride is amazing. We drove it up and down alleys and up and down hills in bridgeland, and around the tight corners and traffic circles. It holds it's own and responds amazingly. The gas mileage is one of the best in it's class.
I'll keep you all posted on my experience with dealer today or tomorrow. I'm pulling the trigger. And I'll discuss in a new thread.
I was a complete Toyota guy until about 3 years ago...LOVE the VWs and have had zero issue with either my CC or the wifes Tig.
We have a Tiguan as well as a Jetta Sportwagen TDI. The Tiguan is a good vehicle and is mostly used to tow our tent trailer as the Jetta doesn't come with an appropriate tow rating. Highway mileage on the vehicle tends to exceed the EPA rating.

The V6 Rav (no longer produced) is still the king of this category performance wise. Fantastic engine. The thing I really didn't like about the Tiguan is it's just a higher, barely larger Golf. I think it's 1" extra length and 2" extra cargo depth. For no real gain in cargo space I'd much rather have a TDI golf or GTI.

I believe Queen would be the more appropriate title.

I think in the compact crossover space, performance wise, kia might be the king (queen) now with the turbo'd 4 cylinders in the sante fe and sportage.
I was considering upgrading in size from my Mazda 6 wagon, and drove a lot of smaller CUVs. My favorite hands down was the new Escape. I didn't end up taking the plunge, but it was a sweet ride.
Let me know if you want to private sell that bad-boy.

LOVED my Mazda 6 wagon. Probably one of my favourite vehicles I've owned. I was sad when they discontinued them due to the CX7 coming in. Not everyone wants CUVs/SUVs, dammit!
No, I do like the Sante Fe. I have one right now with the 3.3L V6, and will probably get a new one in 2-3 years, since it's been great. If they went to only 4 cylinder engines I'd probably reconsider.
I thought post 86 implied no more V6 Sante Fe, but I checked their website and it's definitely still available.

$600 and a trip to an APR dealer really helps with the performance of the Tiguan. Also I understand your analogy for the Tiguan being essentially a golf, the rear space is larger and has much more room vertically in the cabin.
But yes if I could change two things about the tiguan I'd make the trunk about 8 inches longer and put in a 2.0 TDI under the hood.
Likely our next purchase will be the production version of the cross blue prototype showed off this year. Except without the electric motor, in a Diesel.
I own an 09 Forrester and I can honestly say I love it. Gas mileage is average, interior is functional, comfortable and roomy enough for 5 occupants. What really sells me though is the AWD. I can honestly say I've never felt safer driving in a snow storm... that traction control is simply fantastic.

Don't mean to hijack thread, but we ordered our car (2013 CX5) two weeks ago (it's coming from Vancouver), and have yet to receive it. The dealer here said that it was shipped a couple weeks ago, and was technically in their possession now, even though it's on a transport truck. Apparently they can't get a hold of the transport company, and they won't give me an ETA.
Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks guys...
