Scouting isn't what it was.

I prefer the long-term sustainability route. Good standings +good trades+ good development + good scouting = consistent cup contender, with developing replacing maturing talent

We've been playing and beating teams in playoff races and have something to play for, you don't think that they don't realize that they need the points. Playoff teams and teams fighting for the playoffs have their own special intensity. so I don't buy your argument. I also don't believe that the Flames high level is anything but a combination of youthful enthusiasm and no pressure. We'll find out next year how they fare. But none of us have any clue about how they're going to react unless, and you can tell us, you're a professional scout or head coach.

As of now, I still feel if we get a guy like Lindholm, we can still do really well, however, in the long run there really isn't an advantage to winning right now.
Granted and if we don't get one of them, then we move on, draft our three players in the first round and see how they develop,

This isn't a computer game. The players are playing for pride and positions for next year and invites to camp. GM's and coaches are not going to tell them to go out and lose. the players hopefully are not going to shrug their shoulders and play for the high draft pick that might cost them their job.

I think the Flames have depth but are missing top line talent and yes it does make a difference if we select Mackinnon over Monahen.
No but your getting annoying as hell.

The Wild remind me of how the Flames crapped the bed the last few years down the home stretch. The seemingly lack of effort is eerily familiar….and desperation doesn’t seem to matter.

Flames have a line-up that includes various amounts of NCAA, AHL, Waiver pick-ups and some Veterans, and they just shut down a team with the two biggest summer 2012 free agents.

consistency over a full season? that's what separates good players from the rest.

Cundari looked great for a guy playing his first NHL game. Saw him go in a little deep on more than a few occasions probably looking for an opportunity to score leaving his partner alone, which the coaching staff will probably talk to him about though. Made a number of nice tape to tape outlet passes under pressure which is an important skill for a dman.

Backlund looked fantastic. He's going to turn into a very important player for these Flames. Solid defensively and has offensive talent.

If we draft Nurse do we make him dress like a Daigle?

They traded Jarome for crying out loud. Hardly "rinse and repeat".

Cundari is 5'9"... that's tiny and a little concerning. He is stocky but still very short for a dman.

I am for sure. What I am trying to tell the "we should lose to get a better pick" crowd is you never know how these kids will work out. Daigle WAS the supposed superstar of his generation and basically never lived up to his billing, so there is nothing to say the next two superstars from the QMJHL will be any better (not saying they will be worse) but to suck and lose for the privilege of drafting them makes no sense to me.
