Have a bit more faith in the team will yeah? The team has been playing great as of late even with some of the losses.

It's the Pittsburgh Penguins approach to building a winner.

Playing great?
That is what you think the Flames have done in the Detroit, Vancouver, Phienix and Colorado games?

People might be making too much out of the call ups that are happening, especially Irving.
These call ups are happening because the Heats season is done in a couple days, and the 4 call up limit is done at that point. So they'll bring up lots of guys to travel and practice with the team, is what I'm thinking.
It's not an attempt to "tank".

I think it is, with an easy cop out of "We're just letting the young guys play".

Why did we decide to go full tank mode with only 4 games left?
Carolina has been in full tank mode for over a month now.
Anaheim you buttholes, win this game.

Lots of rumors/speculation that he was the one that the Flames had ranked before Baertschi.

I'm pretty sure you are confusing Beaulieu with Ryan Murphy, because Murphy was picked one spot ahead of Baertschi (and looks like a bad pick) and Beaulieau was taken a ways after Sven

You are getting confused about what we're talking about.
Murphy was confirmed to be ahead of Sven on the Flames final draft list.
There was another player ahead of Sven on the Flames draft list that they moved behind Sven the night before the draft because they thought Sven's upside was higher. We'll call him player X. When it came our turn to pick Murphy was gone so we had our choice of player X and Sven. The scouts had moved Sven ahead of player X so we picked Sven. Player X went later in the 1st round.
They are happy they moved Sven ahead of player X because Sven has turned out well. People in this thread are speculating who player X is. Player X clearly isn't Murphy.

Does Granlund signing mean he will have to play in the AHL next year or can he stay over in Finland?

He won't have to play in the AHL, his team mate in Finland, Joni Ortio, has a contract with us too, but he is still playing in Finland.
I hope he comes over though.

He can stay in Finland. Just like Ortio did a couple of seasons ago. It just means we don't lose him to Free Agency which is good.
To be completely honest, I just can't see him keeping up with the AHL play. I know he's playing against men over in Finland, but he's not playing against 6'4" aggressive monsters and borderline NHL goalies. The AHL is offensively stifling and he's an offensive player.
I guess we'll see what happens with him.

How many games did you watch him play in Finland this season?

None. But I saw him play in the highly offensive World Juniors and to be honest it looked like struggled physically in that tournament at times.
No need to get your back up about my comment.
All thing considered, how do you think he'd do in the American league?

If he stays in Finland how do you know when he's ready to try the NHL? I know SM-liiga isn't the best league in the world, but it isn't that far behind the AHL. I think Granlund would be fine and the opportunity to play in the AHL would be good for his adjustment to the smaller ice. I wish the Flames would start focusing more on development opportunities with their AHL team and spend less time focusing on their win-loss record. Granlund is going to need an adjustment period and that should be done on the farm.

Agree, at this point Granlund is better served in the AHL. The smaller ice surface adjustment is a key factor. Also needs to play North American style hockey as well before he can make the jump. I do not assume that the trainers in Finland suck but it would be beneficial if Granlund also spent the summer here training the the Flames trainers and collaborating with the Flames close at hand for the rest of his development phase.
