I wanna see Slappy Mcbabs play, still don't think he's as bad as the board makes him out to be since he can hurt opposing players with his shot. Aim for the ankles!
Seriously though, best shot at getting a higher pick.

He could have played defense.
Being top 20 in scoring and bottom 5 in defensive play is not a good season.
Terrible signing and god awful contract going forward.

I would still say his play this season has been average for what we expected out of him, but ya, his play did nothing to alleviate my thoughts that this was a terrible contract. I was hoping he could outperform his contract for the first few seasons to make the cap hit when he starts regressing easier to accept, but if he's just going to play to his career average right now, this contract is going to look nasty in a few years.

I don't know how you quantify "bottom 5 in defensive play," but I must agree that Wideman hasn't been very good defensively. He hasn't been quite as bad as Giordano has decided to be this year, but he does struggle especially with bigger forwards.
5 million is a lot for what he's brought to the table. He makes me nervous.

Wideman is a 3/4 defenseman. They make about 3M a year, looking around the league. He can put up 50 points, and is playing at a 40 point pace over an 82 game season this year. That offense is what bumps him up to what he makes.
Understand, if these players were perfect and consistent, they'd be 7 million dollar guys. Or better. That's why hockey is a team sport. You have guys with different skillsets that compliment each other. Wideman's skillset is useful.
When I step back and look at this team going forward, Dennis Wideman's performance and contract are so not what I'm concerned with. He's been exactly as advertised for the most part, and he will continue to be a useful player going forward.

What the hell happened to this Cundari thread? Jesus anyways already.
For those wondering, Cundari won't play tonight but will more than likely meet the team in Minny for the game Sunday.

Did kerr just say that they sent Cundari back to Abby? I imagine he'll be back up for Sunday.

Yeah he was. He was on emergency recall due to Wideman (finger), Sarich (tight back) and Butler (flu all being) questionable for the game tonight.
Sarich and Butler both ended up being good to go, so they had to send him back.
All that according to Feaster on the fan today, and he will be in Minny on Sunday for the game against the Wild.

I have a good feeling about Cundari. He seems like a guy who is very tough to play against and who hasn't got enough credit for what he's accomplished.
This is his shot and I think he will take full advantage of it.

I really liked this interview. I liked how he is eager to prove himself, like that he wants to make the opposition worry about him more than their game and really like how he wants to win.

Just watched the video and I agree, really like what this kid had to say. I got a gut feeling he is going to work our great for us. This quote makes me wonder if the Blues org didn't dick him around a bit, giving him something to prove:
"Good to finally be in an organization where they appreciate what I bring to the table."

Seems like a good guy. I look forward to following him.
What a heck of a shot that was on that goal too. I wonder how he is on the shootout.
