Feaster really should have sold off more players. Still too many vets.

That is the mantra up north, where it is ok to lose. What has that got them? It teaches the rookies that no one will hold the accountable.

We have lots of kids out there and showing them there won't be any nights/seasons off will actually help in the long run.

COL and EDM are talking about Vegas trips and our kids are playing hard.

This is a good thing.

The problem with the team "up North" is that losing has been what they have done for so long.

This team without elite level talent that you get in the top end of the draft is likely to be facing the exact same thing but I guess a couple of meh wins at the end of the year with an overall losing season is supposed to somehow change that.

Colorado has a whopping 1 less point than us since the trade deadline and wins over Anaheim and Vancouver so I am not so sure we can brag that much about our playing hard while slagging them.

Unfortunately, the way I view it, is that it's this kind of mentality that has this team in the pickle they currently find themselves in. Four consecutive years of missing the playoffs, but we're (fans and management) totally cool with it because our guys are "playing hard".

Eventually, we need to hold this franchise accountable for a lack of results. If a season like this isn't enough to trigger it, nothing will.

I sure will be comforted for the next 10 years thinking about wins like this when a possible franchise centre like McKinnon or barkov or whomever is available at the bottom end that we don't get is lighting it up and we spend years with a bunch of mid round just out of the playoff picks.

Shortest season in recent years, quick pain, get best pick and move on.

Laughable if it didn't have such long term ramifications.

We were totally cool last year because of how hard working our guys were?

Revisionist history there.

Man I hate the Oilers as much as anybody, but they are bad because of a loser GM and President not because the road to drafting in the top 3 created a permanent losing culture or something.

I am so glad we won. Why? Because were not the pathetic disgraceful Edmonton Oilers. (Oiler fans you are usually ok; more realistic than most fans and not nearly as arrogant as Canuck fans.) So what if we pick 5th or 6th, it will still be a great hockey player and we can always trade up. Not picking finishing last and picking first while still being more competitive than the Oilers makes me proud of this teams character, and helps build this teams identity. I'd rather have 23 guys with character, confidence and better player development, then 22 guys floating around with our big name saviour next year.

Even guys like Eberle has checked out this year. A culture of losing and accepting it is a real threat.

Our guys weren't hard working last year and we condemned them for it. But the moment they do, suddenly we're all ok with whatever the result is.

We're too damn Canadian sometimes.

Great game by Kipper. Wings did not show up for this game at all. Wings don't deserve the playoffs if they want to mail in some games down the stretch.

I don't understand this "culture of losing" crap. We ARE losing on a season by season scale. How is losing at the end of a season going to create a culture of losing if four #### seasons hasn't ... and probably the next three seasons added to that.

I love it. There is so much more intangible value to the organization of having the kids compete every night and finish strong. I absolutely love that we don't have any hot shots switching to number 90 after a big hold out, or stars being outscored by Begin. By winning now we are already building a culture of strong character and it will be great for all of these players future.

Because we have a bunch of young kids that are new to the NHL that need to understand that under no circumstances is it ever acceptable to lose. By doing this management is eliminating the culture of losing at it's source and will help lead to a faster rebuild.

I'm shocked moon has forgotten this could have been Kiprusoff's last game at home as a Flame. You always want your best players when they retire to leave on a high note.

We aren't winning now we are losing. Look at the record more losses than wins and likely finishing the season with a lot more losses coming.

And we do have guys being outscored by Begin.

It's absolutely garbage that the Hurricanes will pick higher than us. Even potentially the Lightning(!) I like seeing the young players beat better teams but they gain nothing from this. Winning culture? Ill worry about that when we have a roster with a snowballs chance in hell of making the playoffs. I'm not paranoid about repeating Edmonton's mistakes. They're special.
