Just watched the post-game interview. This guy seems really down to earth.

Am I the only one who saw Iggy score his 2nd for PIT?
It was a sweet one-timer on the PP.
Edit: Or wait, the box score says Kunitz, he must have tipped it. So I am the only one who saw it. Never mind.

If you're talking about the one against Tampa on Thurday, they later determined that Kunitz redirected it in. Iginla had 2 assists in the game, but no goals.

It's time to stop with the Iginla references. No matter how their stats compare Hanowski is not and never will be Iginla not do we win or lose the trade based on what he does. It was funny the first time.....

Hanowski will max out as a 3rd or 4th liner in NHL if he makes it. Hopefully he plays the rest of the season in Calgary so we can get a better idea on where he fits. Next year I would be surprised if he doesn't start in the AHL.

I feel that he played a very conservative game. That is why he looked slow out there. He just didn't want to take any chances and skate himself out of position. He stayed back in the offensive zone. Not a bad approach to a new team in the best league in the world. Once he feels more comfortable out there I think he will skate and hit and take more chances. Looks like he has a good eye the the game and that is the new Flames identity so he should fit right in.

Hi skating style was very awkward, but he never seemed to struggle keeping up with the play. Interested to see him against a team that plays a faster game.
I think the best thing I can say, is that it was his first NHL game, I noticed him a couple times on offensive opportunities, which is great, and then for the rest of the game he never looked out of place, never once did I freak out and realize it was him that F'd up. Pretty good first game in the NHL IMO.
Also, his awkward skating and lame hair and being an American made me think Tony Amonte

don't think my opinion holds much water considering it was his first game as a pro.
Thought he's a bit slow, but there were shifts where he looked like he could be useful along the boards, and the goal showed perhaps useful infront of the net.
Could be more useful on a line that likes to play along hte boards and behind the goal line, as opposed to a line that builds offense off the rush.

I hope he develops into a 3rd or (reach) 2nd line winger who plays a physical game, adds a presence to the front of the net/boards, and who brings leadership qualities and a solid work ethic to the Flames.

If Hanowski becomes a full time NHLer I count that as a big win for this team. The 1st and Agostino are what I will be keeping my eyes on, I always saw Hanowski as a major wild card. Great for him to get that goal, I love his confidence.

Cuz goals like that say a lot in my books - not about whether you will ever play more than a game or two in the NHL, but a lot about who you are as a player. And Hanowski is a good one

I'm not sure what side of the fence you think I'm on, but I agree that that play showed everything I wanted to see.
But this wasn't a dangle all alone shelf that you can hang your hat on. It's one goal, it's one game, it's too early to say anything was my point.

After 2 years of growing it out, Ben Hanowski cuts the flow for Locks of Love. Great cause. Great guy @redbloomsalon pic.twitter.com/uG7R4Fa03T

There was at least one shift where I noticed Hanowski covering for TJ Brodie as he rushed the puck, and actually had to defend a bit against a Wild forward. Unless it was Max...can anyone else confirm what I'm talking about?

Too soon to rate the guy. I am sure he still trying to get used to the NHL speed and so on. He's a big boy and before he scored his first goal, i was saying the guy should go in front of the net because of his size...then bang he scored while he was standing in front of the net.
He reminds me of a slower Scott Hartnell. I think I would be happy if he comes close or better than Hartnell. So, right now I have no idea how to rate him because i only seen play once. I am mixed right now.

All good, my friend. Wasn't meaning to single you out as anything, if that's what my tone sounded like. I think I agree with you.... the kid can play, but maybe not at this level.... Who knows.
My bad for making it look I was implying you suggested anything other than that
