Who has off season plans 2 months in advance to go to Vegas? Just found that funny thats all, no big deal.
I didn't make it sound anything like that, you are confused. I disagree with Giguere and I was very clear about that. If the team was winning it would be a different story.

He needs to deal with that in the locker room where his teamates can defend their actions.

I guess speculation is the downside to what Giguerre said.
Stupid tablet won't link properly but Duchene liked what Giggy had to say according to sportsnet.ca

Hopefully this sparks them and they will actually win some games. Give us a better pick.

Is there anyone on the Avs that is in contention for personal awards? When Giguere said that some guys were more worried about a trip to Vegas the first thing I thought was the NHL awards Banquet. Maybe I am looking to deep.

Really the only guy that cares on that team IMO is Landeskog, and definitely Duchene.

To me, the only relevance to the comments is will this help the AVs improve and hinder their chances to get the #1 pick. It could shake up the AVs and that would be great, a team should not be allowed to intentionally tank without someone calling them out.

4-1 Avs against the Ducks in the 3rd, looks like Giguere sparked them, good.

Thanks J.S, maybe they'll win consecutive games? No, I'm getting ahead of myself

I've been told, from inside the locker room, that this team is divide down the middle. Got infinitely worse when ROR was signed. Only certain members of the team were even included in the Vegas plans, and a big power struggle between ROR and Duchene.

Personally I expect ROR to be traded as soon as his 1yr no trade period expires.

Sorry, cannot provide the source

Not trying to knock Landeskog at all - I think he is a heck of a player, and is definitely captain material.

I just don't think he should have been named captain YET. Rooms like that need a solid vet to be a captain. Someone that will squash things like that (as much as possible). I wonder how much sway and/or respect Landeskog has?

Don't get me wrong - a captain can only do so much, regardless of who he is and how much he is respected - but I just wonder if the Avalanche wouldn't have been better served with someone a bit more experienced in this rebuild, and then hand off the reigns to Landeskog later.

Sacco is probably the biggest problem. They need someone that is tough I think, and start benching guys that aren't competing on the game at hand (or even in practice).

Highly doubt anyone on a last place team is in the running for any awards. Also, there is no NHL awards in Vegas this year due to the shortened season.

Yeah if there are no legitimate players on your team who act like captains, your coach has to be your captain. They need a Darryl.

Funnily enough though you never really seem to hear much from Landeskog. Duchene seems to play that role much more... at least publicly.

As a flames fan I admire the young talent the avalanche have, especially at forward. But truthfully I can see how they can fixit. If O'reilly truly causes this Much issue, and u can't trade him until the next trade deadline, when he is due a 6.5m QO, then u r not going to get more than the 1st and 3rd u would have got from the flames as compensation. It probably hurts a lot that ROR is making so much more than Duchene. All personal feelings aside, Duchene is a keeper. Do what u have to to keep him happy. Send ROR to the AHL to keep him happy!

On a side note, as much as the aves hate statsny contract, at least he's zero drama. I bet he could be had for $0.50 right now, because the aves have too much $$ tied up at centre, and they can't trade the guy they want to

Ya, from what I've seen anyway, I think Duchene just has the gift of the gab, he probably likes playing that role. I can't remember if he was miked up or just close enough to the cameras to have his audio picked up, but at the all-star player draft a couple years ago (the one when Kessel went last), TSN kept playing clips of Duchene shooting the poop with other players. Dude had me cracking up, he's hilarious. He seems like a beauty.

Duchene seems like the natural and obvious captain to me. It makes me wonder if Sacco made the choice of the innocuous Landeskog based on the dysfunctional dynamics of the room. Regardless, really bad decision IMO.

From NBC:

Quote:
“I was happy with the answer. That was the best game we’ve played in a while,” Gigure said. “I don’t know if what I said had anything to do with it. Maybe it did.”

Still, he told Dater that he’s looking for a response that lasts the rest of this season, not just one game.

Avalanche announcer and former player Mark Rycroft likely captured the thoughts of many Avs fans when he said, “I just wish he’d done it 20 games ago.”

The 35-year-old goalie discussed the burden he placed on himself going into tonight’s game with the OC Register’s Eric Stephens.

“Whenever you speak up, you kind of expose yourself to criticism,” Giguere said. “You have to respond yourself. You can’t just say stuff and not show up the next day. I’m just as part of the problem as all of the other guys and I have to be part of the solution.”

Like his team, Giguere was … at least for one night.
