It's cold day for baseball, just look at the home plate umpire.

Just think how much worse the rotation would be with Romero?

Crazy how good JJ looked in Spring and how much he is struggling now.

Makes me wonder if these issues of pitching are related to JP Arencibia not being around all spring.

This starting pitching is going to end up biting us in the rear shortly - our bullpen is being taxed to the extreme. Have we had a starter get to the 7th inning yet, and outside of the Happ start, have we had one get to the 5th?

I am not sure exactly what needs to happen with the starters but they need to start pitching like MLB pitchers.

Great inning so far from Delabar. Gives up a single and then hits Hunter.

Jays starting pitching has to be the worst in the MLB by a fairly significant margin, no?

Cole Hamels ERA: 10.97
Roy Halladay ERA: 14.73
C.J. Wilson ERA: 5.25
Jared Weaver ERA: 4.91
Edinson Volquez: ERA: 10.00
Yovani Gallardo: ERA: 5.73

At the very least some other starters are sucking (not nearly as collectively bad as the Jays)

I know this is unbearable to watch but last year at the same time the Giants were 1-4, Dodgers were 5-1, Braves were 2-4. Very early still.

It is very tough to watch, but there is no way this pitching group can be this bad all year- so wait until the weather warms up and then we're going to see some awesome stuff.

Absolutely man. Considering the Jays have 3 wins with the starters having a collective ERA of 7 is a minor miracle in itself. Even with league average pitching, which these talented starters are more than capable of, this team has a couple more wins. The bats seem to be coming around too. 9 hits today, 12 hits yesterday.

Josh Johnson is a guy who relies on a hard fastball and him pitching in near freezing conditions doesnt help his game, this start should be a write off IMO.

My only real concern is the defence, a lot ground ball outs turning in to infield singles are brutal to see. Brett Lawrie coming back in will be a huge boost at third and some of those infield singles will turn into outs. Reyes is an amazing offensive player but just an average defender at shortstop, so I wont get my expectations out of whack defensively for him, but it will be interesting to see what plays out at 2nd base as Izturis needs to be better than Bonifacio has been.

And the LA Angels who are 2-6 are similarly overrated?
