Don't be surprised if Mayson Raymond is a Calgary Flame after July 1st. He's a great skater and is the right age the Flames will be looking at.

Put Mackinnon on the 1st line, throwing a rookie player into the deep end has never worked out poorly for any team in the history of sport!

Only problem is he is a LW, and we already have Cammalleri, Tanguay, Glencross and Baertschi there. One of them may be traded, but if so I'd rather see a Stalberg or Bickel type replacement. If he can play RW great, but after this season I'm always skeptical about trying to convert players to new positions, although the LW-RW conversion is a lot easier than converting a winger to a centre.

Cammalleri isn't going to be with the team beyond next season (if he's not traded at the draft) and Tangs time may be short as well so I don't think that's an issue.

I think that theory hinges upon Feasters job. At this point in the Flames history, how can we expel Cammy, where doing so is saying he is not part of Flames future, nor given any indication he is needed. Only to turn around and keep the guy who made the deal?

Whether you like Ramo or not.

If we draft Barkov, we need to get Ville Nieminen signed too.

Also, sign UFA's, Regehr, Leopold, Ference, Lydman and Iginla.

Playoffs baby!!!!

*sarcasm* - Although I would love to have Regehr and Nieminen

Flames need size up front. I hope they consider Horton, Clowe, Clarkson

other ufa forwards to consider might be Clark Macarthur, Tyler Bozak, Mason Raymond

I'd also consider signing Jagr, if for no other reason than he would be good trade bait next deadline

On the blueline, certainly won't find any top d-men on the UFA market, so they will have to make due with a patchwork of 3/4/5 type players

Maybe add one or more of Ron Hainsey, Rob Scuderi, Andrew Ference

Pretty slim pickings in the UFA market. Best hope is for some cap strapped trading partners

Yeah size should be a focus, especially with young guys coming up. Keep McGratton, and make sure you have some big top six players like Clowe or Clarkson.

If you can't sign Clowe or Clarkson I would also be inquiring about the availability of Lucic, maybe with the Pens first rounder.

How much would any of you pay to see Clarkson come to Flames? He is exactly what the Flames need, but its going to cost a ton. Probably minimum 5 year contract 5 million IMO. Maybe even more considering Ryan Clowe is apparently seeking an 8 year contract. Would that be worth it? Its a huge overpayment, but he would fill a massive hole.

I can only hope that Feaster and Hartley do better at developing the Flames than some suggestions posted here.

That's a horrifying lineup, especially the goalies. It'd be worse then the 70's Caps.

Cervenka should be re-sign and let him loose and do his thing. Joey Mac should stay if Kipper leaves. If Kipper stays then we can have Ramo as backup. I have to say give Aliu another chance. As much as I like Sarich, i think they should let him go along with Babchuk, Carson. Sign D John Ramage. I disagree with you on Cammy and Gio. We should keep them both.
Draft a potential 1st line center. Either trade the Pittsburgh or St. Louis 1st pick along with 2nd or 3rd pick to move up picks.

If the Flames are going to do a proper rebuild then we need to expect at least one more craptastic season to ensure another top 5 pick.

I would like to see the Flames Draft MacKinnon with their first, and the two guys from Rimouski, Fredrick Gauthier, and Samuel Morin. They are both over six and a half feet tall, and the scouting reports I have read say they can skate, and they can shoot.

I also think the Flames will be talking to RFA's about offer sheets. How funny would it be if we signed Shattenkirk, and St Louis could not afford to match because they had JBO's salary.

I think we need a Journeyman goaltender in here, since we will spend the foreseable future auditioning 4 or 5 young goaltenders. And the way he has played, why not McDonald.

And I would like them to add an experianced two-way centerman that can win faceoffs, even if it means overpaying a guy like Boyd Gordon.

Best case scenario our roster two year down the road.

Beartschi - MacKinnon - ???
Tanguay - Backlund - Hudler
Glencross - Gordon - Horak
Bouma - Reinhart - Neimsz

Gaudreau - Jankowski - Hanowski (Other possible top 6 guys)
Augustino - Gauthier - Aliu (Other possible bottom 6 guys.)

Giordano - Shattenkirk
Brodie - Wideman

Butler - Cundari
Witherspoon - Morin
Sieloff - Ramge

????
McDonald

I Like that Forward group, there is some irony in having the whole roster filled out expect 1st line RW, since that has been the most stable position in Calgary for over 20 years.

I would be nice to have all of our top 4 D-men playing their natural sides. With that group, we would have to cross our fingers that 2 of the other 6, will form a vary solid 3rd paring in 2 or 3 years.

And I guess with Goaltending, we are are all about to re-learn what it is like when you don't have a 70 game Vesina winner.

Quoted for truth. We need to hit the tank 2 years in a row to draft an elite core. You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

Meh..Baertschi is the equivalen of a top 5 pick. With that pick, we got the tank without having to tank.

Then you sit back and wait for these guys to develop (around 2 seasons) with a prospect pool that is filled with young guys. 5 year plan and we are contending!

Other guys in the system:
Mark Jankowski
8 First Round picks
Many other draft picks and guys like Agostino and Hankowski
