That might have just a tad to do with having no centers of note in the lineup. Thus those in those thread who have him as a number one center. Well maybe he is on this team but a much more realistic view is that he has showed some promise this season. Still see him as a 3rd line center on a decent team. With 2nd line center as a ceiling.

I've been really impressed with Backlund this season. Looks like a faster Langkow with a better shot but a worse goal mouth game. Really hope he can stay healthy.

Sign me up for a 4 year, $10 million deal. Buys some of his UFA time and should turn out to be a bargain, paying our #2C $2.5 million per year. I would also guess that he'd love having some of that security given the road he travelled over the last 12 months.

I think that he's far more offensively creative then Lanks ever was.

DL was more of a meat and potatoes winger who went to the net extremely well and would score the 4 foot "I freakin hate you" goals.

Backlund is just way more finesse

Langkow was amazingly consistent.

Langkow? Backlund doesn't remind me of Langkow in the slightest. I don't think k you can find a clearer contrast of skill versus grit. But I have been impressed with his game.

You're right, why make threads to talk about players when we can start 'Fire' threads to talk about who we want out of the organization.

I like Mikael 'Freakin' Backlund..

The thread is fine. But 'Let's talk about' is Mr Rogers lame. I feel like someone's nosy Grandma wants to share cookies and have a conversation. What's wrong with just Mikael Backlund. Heck, throw in a freakin in there if you want.

Damn now I just want to create a thread called 'Lets Talk About: Mr Rogers' haha. Fair point I suppose.

How about we change it to 'Lets get Jiggy With:'

Biggest compliment to Backlund's game this season?: being scratched for the biggest must-lose game against the Predators.

(Thanked, but I still hope this was mostly a joke.)

I've been thrilled with his play this season. The injury slowed him down a bit, but he is quickly becoming one of our mot consistent offensive threats. I think he's good for 50pts next season if he can stay healthy.

He looks like he is developing into the player everyone expected him to be. 2ND line center good at both ends. His compete level has gone up signifigantly. Now he needs to stay healthy.

Not one to usually toot my own horn, but in hindsight my assessment of Backlund from a thread two years ago seems spot on. Notice the amount of posters crapping on him already at the ripe age of 21.

backlund is developing it a Plekaenc's type center. Never going to be talked about as a high point producing center, but that type of smart player who makes a few nice offeensive plays, great 2 way game and a solid transitional game.

I still think he has another gear to go, we see the flashes of absolute brilliance. If Sven comes out guns a blazing next year he could take Backlund to the next level I think. Could be a really deadly combo with a whole year together.
