24 year old forwards with career highs of 10 goals and 25 points (although looks like on pace for around 40 points this year) should not be untouchable.
You may want a good return but no way is he untouchable.

Nobody should be untouchable given nobody on Feaster's list is a "franchise player". You obviously don't trade Baertschi for anything, but they shouldn't be conversation nonstarters or enders.

I agree with this statement. Please explain to me what is so untouchable about Glencross (I don't really care what his salary is)?
Farm-boy, Tanguay and Cammellari not showing up at all are the problem and not the solution moviing forward.
After the trades these supposed veteran leaders need to show me that Iginla was not that important to this team. He hasn't shown much to the Penguins yet.

Nope; he is an RFA, if Feaster calls him untouchable, it will cost more to resign him.

Out of curiosity is GlenX worth youngster Alexander Burmistrov? More or less either way.

I wouldn't trade Glencross for Burmistrov at all.

What really is 'untouchable' though?
I am sure that Feaster listened to some offers on Glencross even if nothing but sheer curiosity.
What I think 'untouchable' to this organization is an identification of what they feel are key players to retain in this organization for at least the duration of the rebuild. Flames don't seem to want to 'burn it to the ground'.
I can't say I disagree with them. As players get drafted and start populating the roster, and this is supported with key FA signings, it opens up room for these 'untouchables' to be traded (if need be). I also don't think he probably named everyone that was at the top of his head - Backlund (though not scoring too much) has a huge impact on the ice, and is young. Hudler and Wideman were just signed - I don't think the Flames would want to trade them so quickly, considering they are solid vets to keep around in this transition phase.
I just think it is just another one of Feaster's "ramblings" he likes to do at times.

The "untouchable" label attached to Glencross is likely also a product of his unwillingness to be traded to another team. I understand why Feaster is being panned for designating certain players as such, but I think that this has much more to do with present circumstances, and the that this label is likely fairly fluid at this point in time, until the team begins to restock on franchise and impact players over the next couple of years. I suspect that one or two years from now, neither Glencross nor Girodano will still be considered "untouchable".

As FanIn80 noted on page one, Feaster did not frame the discussion as "these guys are untouchable", but as "these are guys we want to keep". In short, Glencross and Gio were not untouchables, but that they weren't going to get moved unless another team wowed the hell out of Feaster.

Glencross is leading the team in scoring, and was doing so even with Iginla on the roster.
He is doing it for half of the money he could get elsewhere.
He is taking a huge discount because he only wants to play here. He is literally willing to give up millions of dollars to play in Calgary.
I don't care if he's 45 years old, that's exactly the kind of player I want to see on the Flames.

That's how I heard it too. I was confused.. I thought maybe I missed part of the press conference.
I find that there is a lot of embellising lately about what Feaster or the media says about the Flames. Everything seems to get ramped up a notch as soon as it get posted to the board it seems.. I only read this board, so maybe this is normal on other boards, but this place used to be a little more down to Earth.

I'd have to listen again, but I don't think he ever even used the term 'untouchable'. He made the point that, in spite of rumours to the contrary, that Glencross was never 'being shopped' or 'put out there'.
I think it makes sense to designate certain players as part of what you are going to rebuild around, and Glencross and Giordano make sense as part of this group, IMO.
Also, it amazes me how short people's memories are in player evaluation. Good players have poor stretches, bad players play well at times. Giordano hasn't had the best year, but suddenly people want to dump him in spite of looking at his body of work the last few years? The decisions that would be made if you only looked at the last 20 games all the time would be disastrous.

Exactly. Obviously, unless a player is refusing to be traded, no one on this team is truly untouchable. With the possible exception of Crosby, no one in the league is.

I think Brodie is also an RFA, but I don't think he was presenting a list that was intended to be exclusive in any event. We shouldn't assume that because he mentioned these specific players, that everyone else is tradeable. There are very few untouchables in this league, let alone the Flames.

No one on this atrocity of a roster should be deemed "untouchable".
Only guys I'd like to see them keep around are Brodie, Backlund, Hudler, Wideman and maybe McGrattan. Sign Nystrom as a veteran UFA checking presence, slot Bouma back in once his injury is healed, call up Horak, Baertschi and Wotherspoon, and bring in two new goalies.
Draft Mackinnon and hope he makes the team from camp.
Fill out the rest of the roster with guys that are just plain "difficult to play against".
That would be my plan.

Yes, relying on Wotherspoon to be in our top six D when his highest level on play is at the CHL level sounds like an excellent idea, Mr. Milbury.

You act like that jump has never been made before, relax, it's a better idea than playing Butler 20 minutes a night, I can assure you.
