Default Greetings from Pittsburgh!

I hope you guys don’t mind me intruding on your board, if this creates a problem feel free to delete this!

Hello, after the Iginla trade I searched some Flames forums (as I typically am interested in the other side’s reactions), and I stumbled upon this page. I must say, since then I’ve found myself reading even the non-Penguin topics as I’m a fan of hockey in general and this seems like a really great site.

Anyways, I’ve never been more thrilled for a hockey trade than getting Iggy (has always been my favorite non-Penguin) and I don’t know how one can help but to love what he appears to be about both on and off the ice. As thrilled as I am, I must admit it feels slightly weird even to me to see him without the big C on his chest and I cannot imagine how rough that may be for some of you. I truly wish you guys the best, as the Penguins only recently were going through a similar type of period before stumbling upon a ridiculous amount of luck.
Some observations I had, but wasn’t able to post about:

1. I, speak for Penguin fans everywhere when I see I APOLOGIZE FOR OUR ANNOUNCERS. They are TERRIBLE, a source of frustration for all of us, and we all find their homerism overboard. It is frustrating that’s currently what’s on TV, because the current radio announcers are a JOY to listen to… Mike Lange is recognized by HOF / a wonderful announcer, and Root for some unknown reason decided to go with this joke… The uproar when tv replaced Lange with this @$@!@!! was immeasurable.

2. Matt Cooke – A VERY sour subject for obvious reasons. This doesn’t excuse his past, but the guy has just been a solid very good hockey player for the last 2 years. After the last suspension many Pens fans just wanted him out of organization… they instead made him see a bunch of therapist, stated one more incident and you’re gone publically, etc.. I thought it was all a load of bs, but since then he’s actually been a VERY clean player who does a little bit of everything. There hasn’t been anything close to dirty outside of the Ottawa play, which I personally found a freak accident (I may be biased).

3. Glad to see it looks like Sid will be back in time for a warm up for the playoffs. I apologize for Pens recent rather lackluster play, they are normally a more exciting team to watch. Their transition game is really hurting without both Letang / Martin. Also TK is a TERRIBLE hockey player who they just inserted in Sid’s place just so they didn’t have to mix up all the lines. Although this won’t help now, I actually like the move as it allows Iggy to gel with 2nd line and Morrow to gel with 3rd line. Then once Sid comes back, just slot him right back into what’s been the most productive line in hockey. I think they’re just trying to weather the storm and not mix up what was working on other lines.

Lastly, if I’m permitted I plan to stick around and occasionally post. Maybe things are different in Canada, but in America the Penguins are usually the most hated team and Crosby the most hated player by many fan bases. I guess I understand as mainstream media here seems to only care about Crosby and no one else, which would become quite annoying. Anyways, it was definitely nice to see so many “glad he’s going to Pittsburgh type of posts!”

Go Iggy!

Welcome! Great first post, I did not know Cooke had to see a therapist. I was tempted to sign up on HF to see how Pens fans could tolerate Cooke, this explain it. Good for him.

Most of us don't hate the Pens, we take out all our hate on that diving team in BC. At least I do.

Feel free to post anytime, if you could give us occasional news on Iggy, that'd would be appreciated.

PS. You know anything on Hanowski and Agostino?

Yes, the Pens weren't all roses about Cooke 2 years ago..

Will do with news on Iggy, as a side note... if any of you hear any news on Iggy from Penguins beat writer Rob Rossi, please ignore it.

In recent years his "inside sources" have told him:
-Pens without a doubt moving to KC
-An opinion piece that they need to trade Crosby....
-Malkin being traded to LA
-Jagr to Pittsburgh
-Penguins getting frustrated with Crosby injury and want to elect a new "C" (which the Pens responded by all wearing a "C" at practice as a big "f you" to him)
- Parise to Pittsburgh

He has quite a track record

Lastly, I'm not that knowledgeable about either personally but from those far more knowledgeable than me. They were the Pens 2nd and 3rd best forward prospect (which really just states how terribl the Pens are at forward in the system). Its kind of a joke how all the Pens do is draft puck moving - defenseman, and basically ignore the wing position. (Although they have used those pmd to trade for Neal, Kunitz, and now Morrow... so I personally don't mind it). Anyways, from what I gather.. probably one of them becomes a bottom 6 NHL'er the other a career AHL'er (sorry)

Welcome! Will surely check your posts about Penguins, always loved Crosby, and now when Iginla is there, I'm going to glue myself on the screen all playoffs when they are playing.
