Is Brendan Gallagher >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Baertschi?????
Flames signed Stempniak to play with Baertschi.... Montreal signed Prust.
If Feaster is fired it should be for not having anyone to play with and look after Baertschi.

So potential that some of these names are either traded as cap dumps, or bought out. For guys that are bought out I really hope the Flames take advantage of their cap space and throw out 1-Year "Redemption" contracts.
Pick up guys on 1-year contracts and you might have more trade assets at the deadline or find some guys you really like that improved their game.

Good work man, I'd have to question the inclusion of Tyler Myers though. Has he been so bad this year that his contract could be bought out or included as a salary dump?

Raymond is from Alberta but I am pretty sure he has said he grew up a Canucks fan
also know that he likes living in Vancouver, I would be surprised if he's not re-signed

I would take a chance on Myers... if he turns out well, we could have hit the jackpot as he is still very young.
Myers (rejuvenated)-Brodie can eventually become a very solid top 4 pairing

I believe he is from Cochrane, no? Anyway, I don't think its a matter of him re-signing but rather if the Canucks can afford him/want him

^^think he's from medicine hat or I could be thinking of Linden. But yeah I don't see canucks resigning him, think they might try to package him with Luongo. Also recall he was practicing with Flames players in the off season in Calgary

If we can somehow get Tyler Myers, I'd be ecstatic (buy low!).
I'd also be interested in adding Ryan Malone, Andrej Meszaros and Tuomo Ruutu to ice a team that competes and isn't too embarassing (at least they won't be a push over).

after this year they would
Ballard will be gone, Luongo's salary off the books
unless they trade for someone that they want to extend at a high salary Raymond will be back

Not if they are physically unable to compete in the playoffs. Last year LA was significantly more physical and Raymond was a waste of roster space.
The Canucks are in the same boat as the Flames (well their boat isn't as leaky) but they have too many soft skilled players.
They have recognized that and gave away a better player than Raymond -- Hodgson - for the hope of a top 6 forward that can play with some jam.

I hope we over pay for Clarkson and make him our C. He's the kind of player you want your young guys to look up to.

Nah. We've got a promising draft this year plus a crapload of prospects, once this team is young and skilled, quick and big, then we'll talk about signing some vets to support the young guys. Til then, overpaying players is just a waste of money for us and a waste of time for them.

How awesome would it be if the Flames ownership bought out Bryzgalov's contract for Philly's 1st?

No one from ALberta grows up a Canuck fan. No one outside of BC( in Canada) grows up a Canuck fan

We'll prob overpay for Clarkson but I'm all for it. Would like Lombardi back and Raymond at reasonable prices.

I don't think it matters much if we overpay as long as the term is short.

Burrows, Edler, and Higgins all have raises incoming. The Canucks cannot afford Raymond at anything above 2 mil or so.

No it's not... buy up some guys on redemption deals if you hit lightning in a bottle then you're good and if you don't then you have extra assets to peddle at the deadline next year. It's Win-Win. I would like to see them stay away from any long-term deals (3 or more years). But other then that buy away.
I have zero desire to see Calgary pull an Edmonton and burn all our young guys ELC years on non-contention years, let them ripen in leagues other then the NHL and then bring them up.

Don't go counting that chicken before it hatches. No way he's going to be bought out and with Luongo's bad contract I can't see any team that takes it on not insisting on sending some $$ back.
