Talent wise, he is basically a Gaudreau type that had a growth spurt. If you'd have seen anything related to him, you would be able to tell that he was all that and as good of a chance to be a home run pick as any taken before him, but with the caveat that if he does hit, he'll be a 6'4" 230 lb skilled 1st/2nd liner vs a 5-9 waterbug type with Teravainen like Gaudreau.

I did an awful lot of research on the 2012 draft & I was really intrigued by Jankowski. His name popped up a lot as a slightly risky but potentially huge reward guy. He's the kind of player that the Flames of old would have never taken a risk picking, even though he projects to be exactly the type of player we need. If Sutter had that #14 pick there's little doubt Maatta would have been a Flame.

I'm not sold on Feaster, but luckily it appears to be Weisbrod running the scouting. I have no doubt we'll make the most of it this year. There's no denying our draft record appears to be better, though admittedly none of our picks have accomplished anything in the NHL yet.

Taking into consideration our remaining games, poor road record & how bad we're playing I think we should be a lock for one of Jones, Mackinnon or Barkov. With some clever moves at the deadline and at the draft we could have another top 10 pick & a late round steal.
