Could be, or ROR was their opening salvo in the rebool (rebuild and retool together).
How committed they are to it we won't know until we see what happens, but at least the possibility to go to whatever degree they want exists now, they weren't going to do it with Iginla here (which I don't see as either wrong or right, I can appreciate loyalty and having a high priority on a relationship as well as making a hard but right decision for the future).

Why wouldn't he want to have a chance at the playoffs? I bet he gets traded

Oh, please keep Gio! I can't take any more fan heartache.
Bouwmeester should ABSOLUTELY fetch us a whale of a return.
No excuses with Jbo.

If the flames play their cards right over the next few days the team could really be setup to compete over the next couple of years.
Add a bunch of good prospects and a ton of cap space to bring in some experienced NHL talent.
Easy to say that we should of done this a few years ago, but maybe this is the prefect time for the flames to rebuild. Short season (fans don't have to suffer to much). Most of the players that we would trade are finally living up to their contracts.
Could work out very nicely.

lol if anyone wants Gio, he should be made available. JayBow is better than Gio is and if he's available, everyone should be.

I agree with this, anyone on that roster should be available. Brodie is kind of pointless to trade as he is exactly what we are looking for, talented young player. But it doesn't mean he shouldn't be considered in an upgrade that is a year behind him or so development wise.

Yes it does actually, you don't trade Brodie unless you're getting a Dougie Hamilton esque player in return - anything else would be a waste of time.

Thank god Sutter was fired. We'll actually be able to get some decent value for Bouwmeester instead of having to buy him out.

If Brodie helps you upgrade a package to land an elite talent (e.g. Doug Hamilton), you drive his ass to the airport and check his bags for him.

And more than likely Kipper gone at the end of the season. We are hardly going to recognize this team come training camp next season.
Sigh....
I know it's a good thing, just doesn't make it any easier.
