Finally someone points this out.
In a selection of 10 drafts (2000-2010), the 26th pick has yielded
nine NHL players (Kuznetsov not included). By comparison, the 30th pick has yielded
five NHL players, all of whom are depth players.
I don't know about the rest of you, but picking a potential NHLer who can help the franchise in the future supercedes Iginla getting a cup ring.
For comparison sake, I've also included 24th pick which has yielded some some notable players.
Players picked at 24th : Alex Steen, Mike Richards, TJ Oshie, Mikael Backlund, Matthias Tedenby, Marcus Johansson
Players picked at 26th: Brian Boyle,
Cory Schneider, Matt Pelech, Leland Irving,
David Perron,
Tyler Ennis, Lukas Krajicek,
Brad Boyes,
Kyle Palmieri,
Evgeny Kuznetsov
Players picked at 30th: Jim Slater, Vladimir Mihalik, David Steckel, Brian Sutherby,
Simon Depres
