Iginla is the only player in hockey that I would continue to cheer for. I am a Flames fan. I never wish ex Flames the worst. But I don't cheer for them either. With Iginla I will.

That assumes that he doesn't tarnish his legacy by pulling a Sundin on us. I really hope he has enough respect for the fan base to either sign an extension or take a trade prior to the deadline.

I know it is a hard decision for him. But it doesn't get any easier in June. Time to make it Jarome.

If Iggy is to leave, I'd prefer it to be Boston. Best place for him to win IMO, plus my dad's a big Bruins fan so I'll actually have a reason to root along with him.

I think Pittsburgh is the most likely place for him to win. I don't see the Pens going any other route other than contender as long as Crosby is in his prime. Iggy could sign there for a few seasons and have a few cracks at it.

Just seems so wrong seeing his name and number on a different jersey. Man this is going to be tough.

Sub-thread: What team would you want him to go to?

Again, I'd like to see him retire a Flame so it's all for fun but for me to continue to cheer for him and his new team it would be easiest if he went to Boston.

Yuck, Oilers.

Yes, of course I would Iginla wherever he goes. And I hope, if he is traded or signs elsewhere, that he returns to Calgary before he retires.

That's not to say I would cheer for the new team necessarily. Teams I already like, such as Boston, Philly, Pens, Sens, Blues, LA easy. If he went to Detroit or the Leafs or (god forbid) the Nucks, I would cheer for him to do well personally while the team failing... Sorta like cheering for Gaudreau playing for the Americans at the World Juniors.

What's to argue, except if Iggy goes to a team like the Canucks which I doubt would happen, they don't have the prospect base or a high draft pick that would be required.

I would cheer hard for him to get a cup before he throws his skates in the Atlantic.

I do think though that if Iginla leaves the Flames we won't see him coming back to the organization in any capacity.

lol I was referring to the oilers jersey post, not ninja's post. My reply was a little late and didn't want to edit in a quote.
