My goodness do people ever over-react when it comes to Beartchi...we need toughness and grit in the lineup tonight, Sven is currently the weakest link, so what if he sits out a game...

Since I'm always an eternal optimist when it comes to our beloved Flames, I'm going to say we prevail 4-2.

Goals from Hudler, Whirling Dervish, Cammy and Glencross with an empty-netter.

Get this freakin Honda Center monkey off our back.

Probably going to be a 5-4 nonsense game as usual with the Ducks.

wow.....didn't realize ducks were doing so good. Crossin' the fingers for a Flames win. With kipper back, iwouldn't be shocked if we can hand the ducks a reg. loss.

So your suggesting to make POE969 they should play Baertschi anyways?
Well I think they should bump down Comeau and put Baertschi on one of the to 2 lines

And maybe he needs a night off still after getting rocked by Murray. Let him watch, get the stiffness out and come back ready to go tomorrow night. We need Sven to capture his youthful exuberance again!

On the note of the game i hope the flames don't continue to tease us and put a string together. Iggy is playing well, I think we will see a strong game out of butler again and comeau will show cp that there was a reason he had a 20 goal season, not show us why plays were dead on his stick. Keep the ball rolling boys

He played a bad game last night. This is time for him to sit and reflect, he'll be back in the lineup tomorrow. hopefully with a better game.

If you want to teach him a lesson, send him to the minors. If this team really wants to win games, put the better player in. Comeau is better than Begin and Beartschi is better than Comeau.

Beartshi should have been in our top 6 in every game. If they think he isn't good enough yet, they should have sent him down earlier in the year not put him in the bottom 6

Baertschi needs a chance to shine. What better than the biggest measuring stick match up so far this season? These are the times when I feel you need to take risks on your most talented future kids. I think this is BS.

He saved our bacon defensively a few times last game (or was that sunday.. can't remember), but it's not like he's completely ignorant to the defensive side of the game. I feel like each time he's really got the opportunity and the time, the more impressive he's looked. Then he just gets cut off again. I dunno, I just hate this mentality. And it's not just one game, he's been severely limited or benched at key moments of games for the past while now, which is as bad as sitting the kid. If you show no faith in the kid, how do you expect him to have that faith in himself that he'll break out?! Like really, tell me.

It may be a small, temporary move, but it's the mindset that it signifies that is honestly concerning. We're not in 2007 anymore. The transition has to start somewhere.

@vickihallch: Mikael Backlund wearing red at skate. That much closer to return....

Yeah I hate the mentality of Hartley too. Our young prospects have an off game and they get benched or scratched. You're exactly right about them getting cut off. Now Baertschi is going to play scared minutes everytime he is on the ice. Not exactly the confidence builder IMO.

I think it just indicates what line he is on for line rushes, no?

Vicki Hall@vickihallch
Mikael Backlund says he's feeling great after first skate in red jersey. NOT expected to play tonight in Anaheim.

Right on the money...

The same treatment should be shown to any and all players, if that's the case. Not just the kids. It completely defies 'meritocracy' within the org. Rough game happens and the youngest players are the first to be rotated out, while the vets are given a pass.. Hate it.

He is a little dinged up after that Murray hit last game.

Wes Gilbertson@SUNGilbertson
#Flames coach Bob Hartley just announced Sven Baertschi will be a healthy scratch tonight. He wants biggest possible lineup against Ducks.

Wes Gilbertson@SUNGilbertson
Hartley also revealed that Baertschi had a concussion in Abbotsford during lockout. It was previously reported as a neck injury.

Roger Millions@RogMillions
Bob Hartley says he intends to chat with Baertschi this afternoon. About "why he is going to be a great NHL player". #Flames hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Vicki Hall@vickihallch
Hartley on benching Baertschi: "It's not the first time a young kid is getting scratched, and it won't be the last time."

I bet he is in for Monday's game, Hartley has said a few times he likes to have players have 2 full practices before coming back, and since they are playing back-to-back right now, there won't be another full practice until Sunday. Who knows though, maybe he really liked what he saw today from him and if we lose tonight he might feel pressured to put him in tomorrow.
