There are three certainties in life: Death, taxes, and people complaining about whoever is calling Flames games currently.

Frankly, I've always found it bizarre. I liked Millions. I REALLY liked Loubardias. And I like Kerr; I enjoy his little quirks, it makes the game more fun to watch.

This is an entertainment product. He's not covering global conflicts or natural disasters--it's hockey. I like that he has fun, because it reminds me that WE are supposed to be having fun when we're watching.

Not sure that bashing blue-collar guys just trying to do a decent job is anything but a really poor choice here. Maybe we should start going after the stick boy?

Personally, I wouldn't mind if the mods just deleted this entire thread. It's really unbecoming of us.

Bash the players and coaches - they're paid enough to be in the limelight and take the heat. Kerr? He's just an underpaid schlub like most people here trying to make his work meaningful and feed his family.

Sheeesh.....

Edit: and I don't object to his game calls at all. I was screaming just as loud when the Flames scored in OT last night!

I'm not going to pile on about his playcalling, but call me crazy, I actually find his nerdiness and awkwardness kind of funny. The snowball and cannon incidents made me laugh and cringe at the same time.

But anyone, Rob Kerr included, who wears a shirt with a different coloured collar and cuffs deserves to be slapped. Hard.

I really like Rob Kerr. Yes, he's a bit "goofy" and yes, there are more professional PBP guys in the league, but Kerr is entertaining as hell. You can't doubt his passion for the game and overall I enjoy his work. I don't get all the Kerr bashing that is going on here on CP ... but then again, as a fan from Europe, I'm just so happy that I have an opportunity to actually watch the Flames games and enjoy them. Kerr adds to that in my opinion. Most of the "professional" PBP guys I have seen over the Gamecenter are boring as hell. Say what you want about Kerr, but he's never boring. I think he's better in the videos on the Flams homepage interviewing players and stuff, but I enjoy his PBP stuff too. But hey, people on here complained about Loubardias too, so maybe some people just can't get pleased.

Anyway, @ Rob - if you are by any chance reading this: keep up the work!

Charlie Simmer fits the Sportsnet mold of colour guy. Guy who adds nothing to the broadcast who looks good in a suit (See Tabler, Pat)

As I've said before, I'm so happy to see every single game on TV I don't care if it's Gilbert Gottfried calling the game.

You want to know what is embarrassing? The Sportsnet broadcast crew in Edmonton is embarassing.

Rob Kerr is only embarassing if he is your dad.

(PS, I am a big fan of Rob Kerr - I golfed with him and Charlie last summer and they are good guys)

I like Rob Kerr. He's sort of a dork, but I enjoy his game callings. He gets very excited sometimes, but it makes for an enjoyable game to watch.

I don't really remember Loubardias being all that popular back in the day. I think some CPer's were even asking for Kerr to have the job

In past years, I always watched the games on Centre Ice and got the Flames crew through Sportsnet. This year I have Game Centre and you can choose between the two broadcast crews. I find myself ending up on the opponents broadcast most nights (there's some I wouldn't switch over to - other Sportsnet feeds and the horribly biased guys).

I'm not blaming Kerr or Simmer or anyone else, but a Flames fan shouldn't prefer the opponent's broadcast over their own. They just seem more professional - reminds me of the differences between the various OHL crews we get on the Sports Pack here in Ontario.

Ill tell ya I would take Kerr and all of his goofy calls over Rod Pederson anyday. That guy screams so loud you have no idea what even just happened sometimes.

At first I wasn't a fan of Kerr's but over time his quirkiness has grown on me. He's a bit of fresh air to the stuffiness of the typical NHL style broadcaster.

I like the guy.

For sure this was the case. Just like people wanted to get rid of Phaneuf, Bouwmeester, Comeau, Nystrom, Huseluis, Regehr, Sutter x 2, Keenan, Playfair and it will always go on and on. Some people will never be happy

i liked kerr on the fan. as a PBP guy, not sure if it's his forte...

i really think the "that was some kinda........" was better, and it was premature to let him go after just one season (or at least i think it was only)

If Kerr continues to do something corny and awkward every game, I'll be happy with him.
