Sure, I let my son play some games rated older than him, but he asks me to go to the store with him. I ask him about the game, and why he thinks it is rated that way.
But if he ever came home with an 18+ game without telling me first......

Do Asian people have a problem with opening their front door for people and inviting them in when you're buying something listed on Kijiji?
Had the same thing happen to me twice in 2 weeks. Arranged a time, told them I would be there on time, rang the doorbell on the minute. Waited for what seemed like 3 or 4 mins during that cold snap. Started getting very annoyed and cold. Eventually I hear the garage door open so I walk around, they're carrying the item which is quite small and not usually stored in a garage.
Is this a cultural thing or are were these two asian guys just afraid to open the front door?

Could be superstition. Could be that you look like somebody who could f*** up their feng shui. Could be that they actually had the item sitting in the garage. Asians can be pretty superstitious though. Growing up, my parents never let me leave out the front door. Always had to go out the side door. No idea why. Just how we did things. Some of it must have stuck with me as I now don't like opening my door to strangers. If I'm not expecting you, I'm not opening my door.

Someone could create a full time job just moderating Kijiji transactions in a safe and neutral spot, with the right mechanisms in place (app usage, proximity and access to emergency services, etc.) Then no one has to go to anyone else's house. This is assuming that they don't already go to a police station parking lot with police visual oversight.

That's crazy talk man.
Why would I bring my stolen kijiji goods straight to the police? It would just make it easier for them to conduct their elaborate sting operation and bust my ass.

Yeah, they were both very friendly guys, I was just curious if it was a custom to not let strangers see the inside of your house.
At the other end of the spectrum I've picked up a ton of guitar/music gear over the years and ended up sitting down with guys and playing guitar for half an hour and talking gear when I just came to pick up a simple effects pedal. Meeting interesting people, petting dogs, Kijiji is fun, haha.

Yeah, I'm sure there are kijiji nightmares sometimes, but I've used it for a lot of stuff, both buying and selling, and the only problems I've ever had is people dropping off the face of the earth for a deal. Probably sold it to someone else and don't care to let me know. Whatever.
If you think every kijiji interaction is a possible murder scenario, I think you need to relax a bit. Not letting someone step inside your house seems odd to me. Keep a golf club by the door if you're that paranoid.

My inlaws are Chinese. They have a two car garage that has never had a car parked in it, because they have so much junk good stuff in it. All the spare bedrooms are also filled. They aren't ready to be on the TV show Hoarders yet, but I'm keeping an eye on them.

But why... out of the hundred or so kijiji transactions I have been a part of (from giving away free stuff to selling cars to buying sports equipment or furniture) I think only once have I met someone in a parking lot, which seems waaaaayyy sketchier than meeting at a house.
Am I putting myself in danger having someone come to my house to pick up an item? Do I put myself in danger if I answer the door for the charity collecting bottles?? You don't have to invite them in and tour them around your house and show them your diamond collection and give them the password to your wifi and security system
And picking something up at someone's house.... I would be much more worried if getting mugged in a parking lot, if they are going to steal my money they wouldn't do it at their house... I would be able to tell the cops exactly where they lived.
Maybe I am naive, although I don't think so... what am I missing.

I always feel a bit weird telling a stranger where I live and exactly what times I will be home. I still do it pretty often but occasionally I feel uneasy.

To be fair, perhaps I'm the paranoid one. I've always met in public places; malls, groceries stores, etc. Either as a buyer or seller I have something of value (cash or item) and doing transactions with somebody I don't know in my residence seems like a risk I don't need to take. Fair enough if that other people are totally comfortable with that though, all the power to them.
Though I know Calgary Police offers and even suggests that you can do transactions at their station parking lots. As they describe it:
"Online classified and auction sites have been used as a tool to sell stolen property to unknowing victims, and can present a safety threat"
