Do Gattaca and Never Let Me Go count? Probably not, but others mentioned Minority Report and different non-apocalyptic movies, so those who say otherwise can go ######## themselves.
Mostly I say this because Never Let Me Go is an underrated gem people should see.

Any rational human being. Sci-Fi is the worst genre. Worse than Noir films.
MrMastodonFarm, you're on my list for liking Sci-Fi.
I appreciate all your input regarding the Heat, however I will kindly ask you to back out of this thread before you get attacked by an angry Mob with light-sabres.

Also "the divide" from 2010, after 1 viewing not sure what to think other than its gross, some very pervy stuff, and also WTF with some of the plot. Still its truly post apocolyptic, its newer and for most of us die hard fans of this genre we should watch it just to say we did.
Just watched Threads (well, listened to most of it) . . . Quite the powerful movie for its time.
Although the chances now are not as likely, all it takes is one modern-day bomb to create a scenario like that anywhere in the world. And 13 years after the explosions, life looks as dysmal as ever.
Highly recommended for post-Apoc fans!
Yeah watched it again last night, just as good as I remember it, really makes you feel the desperation of such a horrific thing.
We could open this up to a giant Post-Apocalyptic, Sci-Fi, and Dystopian thread.
OR
What I was trying to do is create a thread for the most plausibly realistic-type post-apocalyptic movies as a broad guideline (i.e., The Road, Book of Eli, and Walking Dead as the pinnacle of post-apocalyptic movies).
I should've specified in the OP. I think Sci-Fi should stay away from this thread since it's a piece of crap genre.
I'll accept dystopian, if it's more heavily on the post-apocalyptic side of the spectrum (not stupid Sci-Fi).
Also, thanks everyone for the suggestions. GreatWhiteEbola, I want 2:28 of my life back. That Cherry 2000 movie looks ridiculously funny, but downright awful.
Huh? I think a pretty strong argument can be made that all post-apocalyptic and dystopian fiction is science-fiction.
science fiction (abbr.: SF or Sci Fi)
noun
fiction based on imagined future scientific or technological advances and major social or environmental changes, frequently portraying space or time travel and life on other planets.
Maybe you have a more narrow definition of science fiction than most. I will admit that a lot of sci-fi is cheesy or weak but horror and fantasy suffer from the same problems. Being partial to sci-fi I will find average sci-fi flicks more tolerable than average flicks of genres I am not as partial to (like horror.)
But I don't know how you can be into post-apocalyptic and dystopian fiction/movies and hate all sci-fi. Kind of an oxymoron.

Waahh? Sci-Fi is fantastic when done right, just like any other genre work. When done bad, it truly is bad, but don't let that sour you on the whole concept. Making the everyday strange is one of the greatest ways to explore everyday problems and philosophical dilemmas.

I'm more into the breakdown of social structures where societies revert back to simpler, more savage times rather than the technological advances in them like most sci-fi is.
I'm probably not making any sense, but I'll try. Three examples that best describe my taste in the post-apocalyptic genre are Jericho, The Road, and Contagion.
I really enjoy movies/shows that depict society going backwards and struggling to adjust to a new way of life (without advanced technology), rather than a breakdown in societal function WITH advanced technology.
It looks like I'm in the minority on this, but I've (mostly) liked everyone's suggestions. I pretty much got what I wanted when I started the thread, so thanks everyone. Sci-Fi still sucks though .
Due to the recommendations in this thread I watched Blindness. Not a bad movie, but it does have some issues. Though it did make me think I'd much rather have zombies chasing after me than being in a blind apocalypse
