So a Mitt victory ensures our participation in a war that will ultimately be a waste of lives and resources. I think Obama is less likely to go on a pre-emptive war unlike the chickenhawks of the Republican party, who I would assume will be going to war on Day 1 (since Romney plans on doing everything short of curing cancer on Day 1).

If Israel goes to war with Iran, Obama won't hesitate to send the troops in. The neocons still run the Pentagon.

If Israel is actually attacked by Iran then go fight for them they are an ally. Beyond that didn't Harper also state that he was more interested in a diplomatic solution through global pressure on Iran. He didn't stand up and make a war hawk speech.

Kinda hard to be a war hawk when Iran's military would crush ours. In a one-on-one matchup, it'd be pretty embarassing. But with the help of the big brother (help...do everything, same thing) it's a different ballgame. The endgame is pre-emptive war though, not war after Israel gets attacked. Of course diplomacy is preferred...but then you can look at Iraq, the most obviously doppleganger here (unjustified pre-emptive war), and wonder how seriously will they try and make diplomacy the preferred method? A UN resolution again isn't going to happen (Russia and China will block), so I think diplomacy will be a very short lived option. Force is unfortunetly the end game for a Romney presidency.

We agree on this one, though I believe Obama will try harder to avoid the war than Romney. But once Israel says they're going whoever the US President is will almost certainly support it militarily.

Are you basing this on numbers or ability?

I'm assuming he means numerically. Iran has over 2 million regular and reserve troops compared to less than 100,000 in the Canadian Forces.

To your point, it sounds like Bibi knows who's going to win the election after being asked whether Israel would attack Iran alone.

Yes there would be an immediate boon to the energy industry, but long term I'm not convinced it would be the best for Canada. As the American economy goes we go to a fairly large extent.

Except that Canada is looking to be not so dependent on the US. Trade deals with China and the EU for example.

Here are my guesses:
Obama: Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire
Romney: Montana, North Carolina
This would end up being a huge lead for Obama. It is probably unlikely, but it is my guess anyway.
I've also just entered these picks in the Sun News contest.

Not the one...

I didn't play the "pick the state" game, partly because I find polls and the horse-race element of politics to be uninteresting...but I will pat myself on the back for predicting (and never retracting or hedging) the winner a year ago.

Well. I was wrong on NC, Nebraska and Arizona, but not with the crying in his non caffeinated soda.
Nice.

I'm glad I was horribly wrong. Thanks for proving me wrong America.

I'm happy with the result and sort of sad we don't get Fox. Just for that night though.
