Agreed. And definitely not a failure. Yeah when I play solo or online, I use my PS or my PC. But when company is over that consists of more than just hard-core male gamers , we play lots of wii u. A bunch of us have already finished Mario U and Luigi U and are planning on taking on Mario 3D World next get-together.

Wii U has reached a nice point in it's existence where it has a good library of first party games and is worth owning. In it's first 18 months of existence there were only a few fun games out, but not enough to really justify owning a whole system for.
However the past 6-9 months have been really good for releases. Mario Kart 8 was great and I just picked up Super Smash Bros and it is absolutely fantastic as well. With Nintendo, you always know what you're going to get. They put out fun games that are easy to pick up.

Played a lot of Smash bros (8 player battles are fun). Mario Kart 8 is great, Mario 3D world, Bayonetta 2 all good also.
Like with all Nintendo systems, the first party stuff is great fun. 3rd party is limited, not great for online play. Get it if you like nintendo games, and local multiplayer with friends over.

I play with my 7 yr old son every so often....
he enjoys the Super Mario, Mario Karts, etc.
at this time I'm not interested in him wanting all the extra flashy games & such that are available for the XBox & PS4....
so for younger children I find it good and also with Netflix allows him to select Kids titles easily (although I find the kids titles Netflix has a little limiting over a long period of time)...
Overall it is a fun little system, and he seems to use the gamepad quite a bit with the mario games, seeing where opponents are with Mario Kart 8 and things like that.
Also not interested in getting the more violent titles while he is young & Nintendo makes it easier to stay with children centric games (keep in mind i do not have any other console so am not sure what others provide for younger children).

I'm just waiting on Xenoblade Chronicles X to come out before buying it, so I'll probably pick one up sometime next year.

With WoW getting back into my life, I've sort of neglected my Wii a bit. SSB is still in its wrapping. I am set to move to a much larger apartment at the end of this week so I may christen it by inviting some friends over and enjoying it that way.
Still don't see any need for a PS4 or a Xbone. It'll happen, but I am still finding my Wii U to be full value since getting it.

Couldn't get it to post properly. Said #### it and walked away and just left the link. Didn't have time to steal the image, put it somewhere else and then link it from work.
Edit - Still failing utterly.

That's why you install the imgur plugin thingy for Chrome, then right click and one of the options is "Upload to imgur"

Question.
Thinking of getting it for a 10 and 8 year old.
What accessories would I need? Couple of remotes and couple of nunchucks?

Same here.
Also, are the Wii-motes from the old Wii compatible with the Wii U?

Around $250 from Shoppers I believe. Though the leaked flyer's one Redflagdeals doesn't seem to show any Wii U deals whatsoever this Friday for anybody.

Yes they are. Though many games require the motion plus adapter that are now built into the new controllers.

I've been see-sawing on whether to buy a Wii:U for the past six months. I played the new Smash Bros at a buddy's house on the weekend and it was so much fun. I hadn't really played a Smash title since the 64 but it was like seeing an old friend. The old characters have most of the same moves so it was neat sitting there and being able to recall how these characters played. If I see one for $250 I'll have a hard time passing that up.

A Wii U is worth buying just for Smash Bros. alone. Most fun I've had with a game all year. (Runner-up being Fibbage...which is an awesome party game)

And Mario Kart. And Mario 3d World. And the Virtual Console.
Just everything about the system has flown under the radar because of the awful release.
