It would be interesting to see a study of the history of "eeny meany". I can picture a couple of people trying to get kids to stop using that as a way to pick each other but being very frustrated when the kids keep doing it. Then someone else comes along and says that the better method is to embrace the saying and try to change it from within. The whole thing sounds like a non-evil version of 1984.

While we're on the topic of obscure names for things... what is nxxxer fishing?

I heard my grandpa say it once when I was a kid. My grandma smacked him with her purse and told him that wasn't politically correct anymore (lol) and I've never heard the term since.

My grandmother still calls Chinese food chinky chops. So politically incorrect but cracks me up every time.

I believe for most people it meant to use a pole with a line and bate, to fish off docks, along rivers and lakes, and related to the Black people who fished this way because they couldn't afford boats or expensive equipment.

Off topic, but Louis "suck a bag of d**k" bit is also one of my favs.

As for Mitchell, the guy is a clown. He could've wrote the word "Chinese" instead of writing what he did. Seems to me he knew what he was doing and then got caught doing it.

It's no excuse for his racial remark, but I wonder how many racial insults Mitchell had to endure during his life.

I never picked up any racial remarks from my family, but from my friends growing up. Same with the f word, which we used quite frequently as kids.
