Virtanen is still quite young, he probably will start to make big strides next year.

As mentioned before Virtanen is still only 16 and only 10 games into the year. He was the the best Hitmen I thought against PA but didnt have his best showing on Sunday. I love how he isn't scared to go to the dirty areas or engage in physical play. Rarely do you see that in a 16 year old coming into the league. He'll be a solid power forward for this team in the years to come.

It's hard not to be excited right now.
Blazers just got named No. 1 in the CHL rankings today.
Then they go into Edmonton for the third game in four nights, get all the penalty calls going against them and trail 4-3 in the third before scoring shorthanded in the final 2 minutes to tie it, before winning in a shootout.
10-0-1. Crazy times right now. Trying to keep an even keel as it's early but not even the Memorial Cup teams of 92, 94 and 95 started a season like this.

I think people's expectations of him are far too high because he was the #1 bantam pick. They expect him to be a phenom like Connor McDavid. Virtanen's big, skilled, and only needs more time to develop. Next season the Hitmen are going to be relying on this kid and he's not going to disappoint.

Virtanen seems like Greg Chase with a bit more upside.

Good win for the Royals against the Hitmen last night. Went down 1-0 but came back to win it 3-1.
Of course Jones scored the first goal against his old team. The Royals almost looked a little deflated after that as it was a bad turnover and a bad goal for the goaltender.
Chicks in Victoria sure love that Zane Jones. Signs everywhere, girls talking about him and the building erupted when he scored. Is he a movie star in Calgary too?

Chase is very quietly putting up a good season.

Jus wrapped up a 5 game trip in 7 nights through Alberta and swept it. They have the top 4 players in WHL scoring.
Most goals for, fewest goals against. 12-0-1
Cannot wait to see the standing O they'll come home to on Friday. Unreal.

And the Blazers were supposed to "struggle" to score this year. That team looks great from the goaltending out. The defence are as advertised, probably one of the best top 6 in the CHL.

You always notice Greg Chase on the ice. Sometimes for bad reasons, but you always notice him.

Brendan Ranford is officially a UFA after not coming to terms with the Flyers.
Should the Flames give him a look? Should any NHL team?

Man Alex Gogolev is good. The team was totally flat tonight (for the first 30+ minutes anyway) and he just put them on his back and said let's go. 4-3 OT win over Brandon; he got 2G 1A including the OT winner.
I know Zane Jones is doing pretty well (as I expected), but it sure is nice to have a consistent weapon on the top line.
Royals are 9-4 now. Pretty good.

Holy, Journeymen Cam Lanigan stole the show tonight stopping 55 of 58 shots he faced in a 4-3 SO win over Kelowna. Impressive to put on a show like that when Ken Holland and other Tigers legends where in the building.

After so much success the Vancouver Giants are in full rebuild mode. Would not surprise me to see Don Hay step down he's done his job time to take a vacation.

So much success? Only one Memorial Cup and that was through the back door as host so doesn't really count.
Not much to write home about. They've gone from an ok team to a terrible one.

That's really not saying all that much.
I'm not trying to discredit the Giants but you're billing them up to being a juggernaut when they've simply been a good solid team.
Being a newer team doesn't really hold much sway in a 22 team junior league when there's rapid player turnover. Especially since they're playing in a big market and have all the advantages that come with it.
