Was Lord Denning a great jurist or were his decisions too often directed by results-oriented reasoning?

Is nuclear power the best available mid-term solution for power generation?

Should the oilsands be considered Alberta's triumph or Alberta's shame?

Is colonizing/exploring other planets a good idea or a waste of valuable resources better utilized elsewhere?

Are your opinions informed and backed up by sound evidence and reasoning and therefore worthwhile to consider or do you just shoot from the hip, confirming the old adage," "Opinions are like ***holes, everybody's got one..."?

I dont believe there nations Soverignty was at stake, so I cant really justify it. I think the allies were already winning the war, It was kind of over the top.

Its just unrealistic to power the world off of Solar/Wind. Nuclear power is high risk high reward, and as dangerous as it is we are going to need to advance this technology further to support space flight in the next 200 years.

Alberta's Triumph. The oilsands benefit not just Alberta but all of Canada. It has changed the standard of living for all canadians. Without it Canada would be a Broke and underfunded country like Poland. Besides its probably a better idea to Drill in northern alberta than say the ocean or the arctic.

I suppose its interesting to note what resources are to be had. For instance it would not be worth Teraforming/Colonizing Mars because earth would have to support it like a child. Mars would never be self sufficient and would always need the support of earth to be a working colony. We would always need to ferry over Tools, Material and Manpower. However with an "Eden Prime" type scenario it would be much easier to Colonize, and leave them to develop the land.

Id like to assume I have evidence backing up my opinion but sometimes people just suprize you. I honestly have nothing to say about Alfred Denning without reading his wiki.

I disagree with the know-it-all about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The world had been at war for six horrible years and it would have dragged for years, at a huge cost of human life. Japan brought the U.S. into the war with an unprovoked attack at Pearl Harbor. They were an evil empire that would stop at nothing to win and it's not their nature to ever give up. I have no problem with a terrible act to take out such an evil empire that was just as bad as the Nazis. It's terrible that so many innocent people had to die and suffer, but their leaders caused it.

Sorry for derailing know-it-all's thread. Carry on.

Why do you seem to have such a difficult time with spelling, grammar and punctuation in your posts? Are you unsure of what you are posting, in too much of a hurry, or just 'too hip to care about the impression you leave on others' these days?

In a way its almost balancing which is more important

- The Length and amount of Casualties of war

vs

- The Amount of innocent people that died and suffered

I have no problem with the bombings, I just think dropping radiation on someone is inhumane. Germany bombed Britain and never stooped to that level.

What do you think the world would have been like if the Nazi's had won the war and then taken over the world?
