Oliver Stone, the Oscar winning film-maker and occasional bete noire of the American establishment, has announced plans for a film based on the September 11 attacks in New York.

Paramount Pictures is providing financial backing for the project, which will become the first film based explicitly on the atrocity to reach a mainstream audience when it is released next year.

I love the fact that Oliver Stone is directing ... I could see him doing some good things with it.

I hate the idea that Nick Cage is starring in it. The only type of character I like Nick Cage doing is the crazy, neurtoic type like in Leaving Las Veags.

Trailer out for the new bald Natalie Portman superhero movie V for Vendetta

I was looking forward to this movie, but is this guy too goofy to be a superhero worth cheering for?

I don't think so. He looks the way he is supposed to.

It's not your typical superhero movie anyways.

The first trailer for DOOM is out, and it looks like it may suck hard enough to pull an elephant through a straw

There wasnt enough in that trailer to tell me whether it'll be good or bad. I just hope they reconsidered not having hell connected to the story and making it another alien virus movie.

Speaking of Batman, anyone seen The Machinist?

I've been thinking of renting it, but have went home with something else the last couple of times.
Saw this a few nights ago.

The physical transformation Bale underwent is one of the most stunning sights I have ever seen. Decent movie, but his transformation should garner him an oscar - it was a sight to behold.[/b][/quote]
after seeing bale's physique in american psycho, it blew my mind when i watched the machinist...

that movie was also pretty fataed up

Saw 2

What did they do, shoot both movies at the same time? Fast sequel.

The first one only took 24 days, and it's been almost a year and something so it's a about time.

I liked the first one, it was better than I thought it would be, but did it really do well enough at the box office that they would want to make another?

The first saw was entire garbage, but that twist at the end was one of the biggest ones in any movie I've seen. That entire scene made that movie go from a steaming pile of crap to one of my favorite movies of 2004, but I'm a sucker for a twist.

Thats why I liked it, the twist. I am also a sucker for the big shocker twist endings. I wouldn't say it is one of my favourites though, not even of the year, but i liked it.

Since I'm still on my movie watching spree, and I don't feel like regurgitating that other thread, what are some good movies in the past years that have great twists like that? and I'm not talking crappy ones like Along Came A Spider, ones more like the Saw one.

Few of my favs that come to mind with shocking twists are

memento, existenz, usual suspects, primal fear, mulholland drive, cube.

A movie that doesnt have a shocking twist but is called Twist is a real good one. Highly recommend it if you dont mind a shocking movie. Good canadian movie with stellar acting.
