Am I over-reacting? (dental experience)

I had three fillings done, and was quite surprised to find the bill being just under $1100 and that my plan was only going to cover about 536 dollars of that amount. My plan is supposed to cover 80% of their book rates. So I questioned the receptionist about how much each filling cost and she says $267. So I than told her well thats $801...and makes sense as to what my plan would cover, whats with the extra $300?

She admitted it was a mistake and had to change the second page of the bill to the actual amount. I imagine I would have noticed this reading the bill...but I do wonder if they try to pull this type of thing on occasion.

The portion that is not covered by my insurance company is sent to my wife's insurance company, they reply back that the amount has already been paid to the max (although the didnt pay a dime). What is the point of having secondary insurance if this is the norm?
