Just watching the gamecast on ESPN, but looks like it started with a 2 out walk leading to 4 runs. That's not good at all.

Laffey in a jam here in the fifth again. That lead off walk to start the bottom of the fifth was garbage though, should have been a strikeout. Laffey just getting behind with every hitter.

Also, has anyone noticed the guy sitting in the front row who is about the size of a offensive lineman wearing a bright yellow dress and a massive black wig?? What in the world?

Looked like he tweaked his right knee sliding into third. Hopefully nothing serious.

Sounds like Lawrie will be fine and says he'll be in the lineup Friday.

AA might need to make a small move, moving a non blue chip prospect for some starting pitching relief.

The pitching rotation needs something, otherwise the rest of the year has potential to very long and frustrating. Not something a building team needs.

Agreed Kel. I think he will bring someone in, just someone to eat innings. There was talk about Guthrie. We are pretty much forced into making a move because we don't even have a 4 or 5 starter.

But not giving up much to get a 4th and 5th starter I hope. As much as I want to win now, we're 2-3 starters away currently, depending when Morrow's back and Alvarez can figure his stinker out, and another strong arm in the bullpen. We'd have to give up too many prospects to pick all that up for this year and that's not worth it with the talent they have for next year. Just pick up some innings eaters to stay competitive so losing doesn't get too familiar and there's reason to stay upbeat somewhat.

With the current status of the Starting Pitching the Jays are going to lose quite a few games......

Without the HRs showcase the other night, Jays should of been swept.

Jays have 1 Starter that is pitching well (Romero).

Brett Cecil is an unknown, Alvarez is struggling to find his location... ideally he should be sent down if they had the depth.

Neither Jesse Chavez or Joel Carreno are Major League quality pitchers.

AA has to do something or its going to be a really tough last 90 plus games

The last thing I want the Jays doing is bending over backwards like the OriLOLes of the last 5 years just to get to .500. It would be nice to stay in the widlcard race in to August and September but you don't build a successful team in the AL East trying to just sneak into a wildcard spot. This is not a playoff team if they add another arm, or even two.

AA is not delusional in all of this. I don't think he has a plan to ride out the rest of this season with Chavez or Carreno, but he's not going to make a panic move nor should he. It's certainly gonna be tough to watch some of these games with the pitching staff right now but short term pain for long term gain. There is going to be some moves coming, likely minor ones but it's also made more challenging by the fact that their is no trade market right now in baseball

I don't believe it is a panic move, Jays need to add a Pitcher. The longer they wait the more damage will be done to their Relief Pitchers.

They don't need to target a #1 or #2 or #3 type of starter but they need to add a 4th or 5th pitcher.

There is a long way to go.....

Fact is Jays have 1 real Starter, 2 Career Minor leaguers, 1 Rookie who has really struggled and Brett Cecil (not sure how he will do)

Jamie Moyer can opt out of his minor league deal with the Orioles if not promoted in the next few days.
At least it would be fun the watch!

And they will add a #4-5 pitcher. It sounds like AA has been extremely active trying to get one from all the Jays insiders, he's just not going to give up anything of value or that could hurt this team long term.

Bullpens can be built season to season, it really doesn't pain me to think that they'll have a busy month. There's no stud young arms in the pen the Jays have to worry about blowing out any arms ala Mark Prior

Just found out last night - will be going to the first two games in Boston next Monday/Tuesday for my buddy's stag. Was hoping both teams would be closer to the top of the division, but seeing Fenway at any point is another off the bucket list.

Sounds encouraging.

IMO the Jays have to do something.... there is 90 plus games to go and its way to early to waive the white flag and tank the rest of the season.

They will lose serious support if they go status quo.

No chance they're going to sell the farm to try and make a go at the playoffs this year unless they're getting back players under contract that will help in the next few years as well. Even then, need too much in terms of pitching in my opinion.

I agree, don't sell the farm... but they need to do something.

Heck, Drabek and Hutchinson probably won't be ready for next season... at some point they need to add a realible starter.
