ason Hammel had given up only three homers all season. Then he gave up four in one night. The Baltimore Orioles’ ace thought the Toronto Blue Jays might have an idea what was coming. Maybe, he intimated, the Man in White was back in harness.
“I don’t think you can take swings like that, not knowing they’re coming,” Hammel said after the Blue Jays beat Baltimore 4-1, completing a three-game sweep.
Edwin Encarnacion, Brett Lawrie, Rajai Davis and Colby Rasmus each hit a Hammel fastball out of the park. He allowed a season-high nine hits before leaving in the seventh.


“There’s rumours and things like that, I don’t know,” Hammel said, referring to previous reports that the Blue Jays had engaged in an elaborate sign-stealing scheme involving a white-shirted man in the right-field seats.
“I can’t speak on that but they were taking very, very strong hacks on breaking stuff. It’s something I’ve never seen before,” he said.
Naturally, Jays’ skipper John Farrell gave all credit to his batters.
“Four swings of the bat, really the difference tonight,” Farrell said. “We had four fastballs over the plate that the guys did a tremendous job with.”

Always super lame when someone performs that badly and then immediately looks for excuses. What do you expect out of the Orioles at this point though, they're about 3 weeks away from being back where they belong in the basement.

Last game they lost Wieters thought it was the umps that made them lose with his calls at the plate. Wonder what it'll be next game.

So, he thinks they are sign stealing? Talk to your catcher, tell him to drop a 1 down for a sign and throw a curve ball instead. Its not rocket science.

Man in White 2!!! Oh boy, the diehards are all but guaranteed to wear white on the next homestand (like they did last year) after the whole ESPN report about the Jays stealing signs via various guys wearing white T's planted on the outfield of Rogers Centre! Lookout for those "Men in White" sitting on various locations in the outfield next home game guys!

Why in the hell is stealing signs illegal?

Back when I played ball, you weren't doing enough if you weren't paying attention for any sign or tip of what was coming....that includes pitches, pick off moves, base running, etc....

Is it because the Jays are "supposedly" using someone from the stands?
