The good thing with so many arms coming up is that if you aren't producing good results you are going to be traded.....
Morrow if he doesn't step it up by the end of this season will likely be dealt as you have all of Jenkins, McGuire, Alvarez, Drabek, Hutchison that are going to be vying for spots 2-5 in the rotation and having a bunch of other guys immediately following them.

Even if Morrow just duplicates last season I think he'll be around next season. Have to be so careful with young arms, especially with how patient the Jays appear to be. Having Morrow and his ability to eat innings, is huge. I'm still excited to see him over this entire season.
But man is it ever nice thinking of the competition in the next few springs. Jays are going to have an abundance of talented arms to make decisions with.

And huge for Morrow to get out of the inning down 3-0 to Scott, with his 2nd double play ball of the season.

I believe in the Jays.

Morrow with another pitch down the middle, belt high. Not a terrible game for him but just too many mistakes.

Ok, now it is getting pretty bad, starting to look like batting practice out there.

6-2 Rays. First bad start for the Jays and first time I can remember them being down by more then 3 runs besides opening day.

Jays have hit the ball well today, just have not had those hits strung together. Still 2 innings to put together a rally.

11 hits tonight and only 2 runs to show for it! Frustrating

Molina is a huge weapon behind the plate. He is phenomenal at framing pitches and routinely gets his pitcher an extra inch or two on the strike zone. That last one wasn't even close.

It wasn't so much Molina though as the umpire just plain blowing calls. There was a strikeout pitch (can't remember against who, Encarnacion or Thames maybe) that was so far off the plate that it crossed over the batter's box line on the opposite side! Absolutely brutal.
However, not the reason we lost. Morrow sucked, and it was just one of those games. Still, we could win the series tonight.

Not the one...

There were a few blown calls, luckily most Jays showed more composure than Joey Bats has been.

I've always wondered, since Jose is never shy about letting the umpires know what he thinks of a borderline call, do the umps get back at him by favouring the pitcher later on during the at-bat or in subsequent plate appearances?
I don't have any empirical evidence but it seems as if, whenever Jose complains, he never gets the benefit of the doubt for the rest of the game.
Still, I don't fault the guy for doing it, just like I don't fault Lawrie for plays like the attempted steal of home against Baltimore. This is the way these guys play. You can tell they hate losing more than they love winning, and I always prefer the former over the latter. Wish the Flames had some guys that hated losing, other than Glencross and Giordano and Cammalleri.

Awesom news! Perfect timing to be taking in my second game of the season. Rogers Centre atmosphere improves tremendously with the open roof.
Hope Alvarez can continue his early season success. Go Jays go!
