Of the nominated films I saw, none deserved to win, so I guess I'm happy the Artist, which I haven't seen, won

Nothing for Moneyball? I thought Sorkin would at least get the Adapted Screenplay.

well, 3 highlights were
1/ Christopher Plummer winning,
2/ Will Ferrell/Galifianakis thing
3/ Angelina's leg- even though Brad Pitt lost, he truly is the winner tonight (skinny Angelina or not)

Expect to see a crapload of lousy silent films in the next year.

You wouldn't be alone on that remark. There seems to be a disconnect between what movie goers like and the people doing the voting. They should add a peoples choice based on box office sales.

No they shouldn't. It's ostensibly about the best films, not the most popular. The most popular is already determined in box office take.

How can you not be anticipating the Wayan's brothers upcoming spoof of them too?
Oh and I boycotted the Oscar's this year. They chose to not give Drive the respect it deserves, so I made the choice to pass on them; it seemed only fair.

Surprised that Rio didn't even get a nomination for animation.
Equally surprised that Rango won.
edit to add that the above is based on my cultured opinion of "enjoyability".

Descendants was my pick for what should have won, but I had the Artist as a close second, so I got no issue with it winning.
I thought the Artist was a lot of fun, the smile never left my face. It was a cool way of telling a simple story. I was ignorant and judged it before seeing it. I wanted to hate it, but after I walked out, I couldn't stop talking about how much fun it was.

I really did like the little bits from all the actors reminiscing about what movies they loved as a kid, etc. Nice touch.
Also, Crystal ribbing on what's going on in Nolte's head was priceless.

I'm pretty sure Wayan stopped a while ago...Seltzer and Friedberg are the two I can already see dreaming up a spoof (Though, they already probably have done so using the trailer alone).
