They should put one of those followed by a photo radar.

The trapster mobile app is the best one I've seen based on this idea.

They should, but they don't (yet). If they do, then most drivers will adjust accordingly. Once I know they put one there, then I'd obviously stop trying to break records on that thing.

Hard to know what the real stats are but its nowhere near 1 in 3 or 1 in 4. Probably more like 1 in 8.

Point was and still is we are overtaxed compared to other big cities in Canada.

i'd disagree - to me a tax is something that is difficult or impossible to avoid - i.e. the GST, income tax, property tax.
if you don't want to be ticketed (taxed) by the police, drive within the boundaries of the law....
to me the police are getting unreasonable if they are issuing tickets for things like being 2kph over the speed limit.......the reality is that if the police issued no tickets in a year, then we would all ahve to pay more tax to make up for the revenue.......

Ya but its the fact that every other driver can see your speed that causes people to slow down at those. Its guilt, the majority of people dont wanna burn past these with acceptions of the dbags above.

i was thinking that for about 12+ years I have lived in the deep SE and I would say that I have seen photo radar on the side of Deerfoot about 10 times and even if they set the camera at 115 - they could make some pretty good money - get guys to be more safe.....i should note that for a large part of thsoe years I took public transit to work, and I did not pay attention to that stuff.
perhaps i was not driving on deer foot when they have the photoradar guys working.
i should also note the police are sitting on McKenzie Towne Blvd and the on-ramp to Deerfoot North on a somewhat regular basis - the speed limit on McKT Blvd is a reasonable 60 kph.....

because it surely doesnt say -
" the left lane is for driving faster than the posted speed limit in order to pass those cars in the right lane that are going the posted limit"
|
No...but it does say "slower traffic keep right" not "slower traffic keep right unless doing the posted limit"
Its really straight forward....if you are slower than a car coming behind you in the left lane....move the hell over......its the rule.

16th Ave NE, westbound, at the top of the hill coming from Deerfoot, in front of the trailer park.
I moved to Renfrew in May 2010 and started driving this way every day. After I moved, they were there at least once a week every week when I drove by for months. One week during the summer of 2010, they were there every day when I drove by.
They abandoned this fishing hole for most of 2011, but have recently returned.

Photo Radar got me this year. Stupid intersection, coming down a 1km hill (30 degree gradient) when it levels out there is an intersection where the limit is 50 and I got caught doing 66 in it. Such a bitch spot to put it at. Sucks because I know its there and I always slow down, must have forgot the one time and it got me. $100 for going 16 over. Such a scam.

I've had one photo radar ticket in 10 years of driving. And it was about a year after I got my license.

Seems a bit of an exageration. Where exactly is this hill?

So much wrong in these type of tickets and cops.

I'm trying to figure out what your argument is going to be in court.
Judge: You were observed at 117, what's your argument?
You: I was going 113 per my cruise control.
Judge: That's great, 117 it is.
You: But, he was going way faster in order to catch up with me!
Judge: He's a cop, they get to do that.
If you can turn those facts into a victory without besting the Devil in a fiddle competition I will be quite impressed.

Got one ticket in 2011, coming home from golf at Water Valley. I was going 115 in a 100 zone and the cop wrote me a ticket for 105. $57.

Don't worry, he swore at a cop and threatened to tell on him to his supervisors, clearly this is the kind of rational person who will have no problem convincing a court that his speedometer is more accurate than a radar gun, and that he is a more reliable witness than a police officer.

Considering what kind of scum bags most cops are that shouldn't be hard but of course courts take whatever they say as true.
Unfortunate we can't have a better system than blindly trusting liars.
