Well, he is out of jail now and under house arrest I think. I wonder if he is on some kind of suicide watch . . .

Honestly this is the story that just keeps on giving. It's like my own personal Wannamaker. What more can I ask for? He'd basically have to have done all that pantless to get any better.

Really? Aren't you married - are you saying you'd jump in a lifeboat ahead of your wife?

As far as children go, you can pack 2 of 'em in where one adult can go. You can argue with instinct and morality, but you can't defeat math.

Pretty well. You could probably fit 30 skinny midgets in a lifeboat that would serve 12 adults. It's one of the few advantages of being short, along with having enough legroom in an economy car and cheaper grocery bills.

$50 million? Hmm - I think you could get a spot on the lifeboat using this technique: "I'll lie on my back and you can use my penis as a mast to hoist a sail. That way we *all* get to land and are saved."

From memory I think Smith was sleeping or in his cabin when they hit the berg but he did order "full steam ahead" before he left the bridge.

The biggest mistake though was trying to avoid impact and not to ram the iceberg head on, The Titanic would have survived a head on collision.

I can't believe multiple posters actually said "he thought his ship was unsinkable."

Titanic wasn't in the Bible and I am fairly certain regardless of it's size that people knew it could sink.

Actually, due to it's design (not size) it was marketed as a unsinkable ship and I would imagine a lot of people believed it back in those days..I highly doubt the captain bought in to that though.

BBC is saying that the ship had taken the exact same route previously without mishap. Where did these rocks come from?

Maybe it was low tide this time?

Wouldn't global warming help prevent this disaster? All that melting ice should raise sea levels enough to lower the risk of running aground while showboating.
