I just have a feeling these ain't going to end well for Hamilton with George also having the title of director of football operations.

But hiring George as the coach that is an excellent move he knows his X's and O's when it comes to football.

Well I guess I got a team to cheer in the East now, I always like George Cortez. I always thought he could be a head coach one day but I was hoping he won't be going to any team in the West. I am glad he signed with Hamilton. Burris and Cortez together again. I can see Hamilton going first place in the East with Montreal and Winnipeg fighting for 2nd place. Toronto will still be in last place. Good hiring! Don't be surprise any former Stamps players or coaches to follow him in Hamilton.

George Cortez is not hc material. He is better suited as oc.

What an exciting time for a CFL fan. So much change at the QB position and coach position, and a whole set of new jersey for every team coming up. exciting stuff.

Agreed! It should be an interesting season. Strange to think the Battle of Alberta QBs are now the Battle of Ontario QBs. I just saw a photo of Burris with his Ti-Cats jersey. It definitely looks odd.

Interesting is a better word choice than exciting IMO as a Stamps fan. Tate and Glenn? Hmmm that ain't giving me any feelings of excitement. Tate has potential but at best it looks like QB by committee.

The whole offseason has struck me as ODD. I'm thinking next year is going to be going to be a little scary for Stamps fans.

I'm just suprised Cortez left the NFL as a qb coach which i'm sure is a higher salary then a HC in the CFL. That and its the NFL.

Unless he thought he was going to get canned with Fitzatrick going in the dumper.

I do think there will be some growing pains in Calgary, even this year. I'm not too sure what to expect. I really do think there were some major locker room issues last season and something absolutely had to give.

And I just noticed my awful grammar in that previous post. Yikes. Sorry about that.

I think Stamps fans will be surprised at how much worse off their team will be with a Tate/Glenn combo.

Tate is the second coming of Christ, OK? There will be no worse off. He is going to have a 200 QB rating. Bet on it.

I doubt that as I had zero confidence in the QB position all year. Burris was like Crandel--a one year wonder. Otherwise the guy was all over the place from series to series for pity's sake. Have a great game followed by a brutal one. Last year mostly just looked like he couldn't hit a wide open receiver to save his life.

I was glad to see Tate just because of being sick of seeing Henry.

They were clearly going nowhere last year. The loss to the Esks was a given.

So no I don't think they are worse off as going nowhere to going nowhere would be pretty much equal.

Which year was his one year?

The year he won the Cup? or the year he won the MOP? or was it the year he took his team to the Grey Cup if not for his kicker missing a chip shot FG? How about the 3 years that he was a CFL West All-Star, which one of those times was the one year that he had?

As much as some of the Stamps fans are going to jump on me for this, Tate may be the next Durant.

What's funny (or depressing?) is that I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe it means Tate brings Calgary to be a league powerhouse - like Sask looked like they might be prior to this year - or maybe he looks great for a time and then struggles mightily and makes everyone want to shoot themselves.

I for one am not totally sold on Tate. Fans are high on him but he could just as easily turn out to be a bust or a career Kevin Glenn type guy. Solid but totally unspectacular.

If people actually watch Tate they can see the leadership skills he brings, and the intangibles he has to be a winner unlike Burris.

Drew will run the system better then Burris, will be a better leader.

I don't know how fans can be worried about the season. I mean, free agency hasn't even come yet and I'm positive Huf will be looking for even more changes.

The bar is always winning the Grey Cup. In that he and MC are equal. Might not be fair but that is standard in every sport.

Sure that is the goal but I don't think that is the only way to determine if a guy has had a good season.

I don't think anyone thinks that Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Marino just because he won a Super Bowl.

Durant is a terrible QB.

Somebody in any sport can have any number of good seasons but if they don't win the big one then it's a pretty big missing page in their Bio. Burris had numerous chances to put himself up there on another level but he didn't(sure it's a team game but he plays the most important position).

Ultimately it does come down to the number of rings on the fingers or lack thereof and once again very likely not fair but that's how it goes.
