What a disgrace. What ####ing idiots would protest his firing. I think it was done much too late but I can't imagine supporting people who allowed this to go on

Why? Why are they protesting and flipping trucks? How can you be angry about the firings in this scenario? How?

Bunch of maroons.

From Paterno himself:

"This is a tragedy," Paterno said. "It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more."

Enough facts for you?

They finally got around to cleaning up their facebook page (Penn State that is) - it's even worse to see the "we are" crowd screaming now.

I'm not sure which makes me more ill, Tawnee S. or all these sacks of feces that are whining about their desperation to protect people who enable child rapists.

I'd wager that less than 1% of those that are on the streets right now have actually read the grand jury testimony.

In 1992, the average college freshman (18) would be 9 years old. Now think about all these kids protesting Paterno's firing. Disgustingly ignorant.

With the hindsight of knowing what Sandusy did and the baseless assumptions about what Paterno was told, it's easy for us to say that he should have done more, but none of us know what we'd have done or what he should have done if he honestly believed that Sandusky didn't abuse anyone. It's just amazing how quickly the media has rushed to tear down a guy who has been pure class for the last four decades. A court of law could never convict based on this amount of evidence, but the media has no problem doing it, and for a guy like Joe Paterno, the consequences are at least as severe.
Are you a PSU fan? The Paterno apologist routine is rather stunning.

Ugh, these things just make me so sad. I just can't understand it. How could everyone pass the buck/turn a blind eye? It's fataing football. I've been wracking my brain as to why anyone wouldn't take the initiative to do the right thing. Perhaps I'm wrong in thinking that it's a no-brainer. Please tell me if I'm wrong in thinking that.

I agree with some other posters, disgusting is the word that comes to my mind.
Oh I'm not saying it's okay, I'm just trying to point out how difficult the situation really could have been. I'd like to think that I'd have done the opposite, but I also can see that it's not as easy as it seems. He certainly should have done more, but I don't hold him as complicit as I do someone who was literally the most powerful figure at the institution.

Wouldn't the average college freshman 18yrs old just have been born in 1992?

I would agree if we were talking the Aggies or some other academic craphole with little else going for it but football, but this is an Ivy league collage that wouldn't be affected by its loss and they have to get out in front of this completely, they are likely on the hook for multi million damage awards anyway but a succesion of sordid tales about little boys being buggered in the change rooms is going to destroy the program anyway, dropping it might save the reputation of the college.

This is going to get a whole hell of a lot worse.

I think you are confused with Penn which is an Ivy League school.
