I think the worst part of this movie was the attempted chemistry between Anakin and Padme. It was just contrived all along. Then again, that is one aspect of the storyline that this movie is on par with the original trilogy. Lucas should not be writing intimate scenes.

However, overall, it is amazing how much better a Star Wars movie is without Jar Jar. Shame Lucas can't go back and simply write that twit out of the first two.

What interested me the most is that the droids were used as a guilt-free way of allowing scenes of mass killing, giving the entire second trilogy a cartoonish feel to it. You can blow up Wile E Coyote 1000 times, and he comes back 1000 times, just like the droids. In this movie however, You not only have Anakin killing "real" creatures, but killing children. I thought it did very well to convey how fast and hard Anakin had fallen.
But in the first trilogy, Storm Troopers were slaughtered by the thousands, a planet was blown up, Vader kills loyal officers left right and center, and most of the fans don't even register shock to it.

Star Wars has got to be one of the bloodiest movies in history, but we don't notice it because its so cleanly done. People don't even bleed when they're decapitated.

Saw it again tonight.

For the R2 nitpickers, I noticed something on second viewing. He doesn't actually have a flamethrower. Rather, what he does is shoot oil at one of the droids (and it makes sense a repair robot would have some oil on-hand) and then uses his rockets to light the oil on fire. I still don't really like the fact that R2 has rockets, but that's another complaint altogether.

Well, I loved it, great movie.

It was alot better then Clones, which was alot better then Phantom Menace. Lucas did a good job joining up the two trilogies as best as possible. A few small quips here and there, but nothing to get upset over. I was hoping they would flesh out the Jedi Slaughter alot more, it just seemed to quick for me.

Great movie though.

I find they always mellow out and become better second viewing.
Good post too Captain Crunch about the dueling dialogue. We always agree!

I think she said a bunch of mumble-jumble right before naming each of them...I couldn't make out exactly what she said though...

The part that really bugged me.

"I'll take the girl, my wife and I have been wanting to adopt a girl for some time now".

Seriously, just have the guy say I'll take the girl and leave it at that, no excuse needed.

Too many people complain it was a good movie that's what happened nobody can please millions of star wars fans just enjoy it. It's a good movie it's not like the original trilogy is flawless (episode 4 first scene C3P0 there will be no escapr for the princess now) later (R2D2 shows the message by accident in front of Luke he wants to know who she is and C3P0 doesn't have a clue.) It's just a movie!

Finally got time off work and managed to see the movie. In my books the third best one behind EP IV and V.

Don't much get the complaint that he turned too quickly. He's been conflicted and out of control for years through Ep2 and Ep3. Perhaps it seemed strange that he would all of a sudden pledge complete loyalty but I was sort of thinking that here you have what amounts to be an out of control jedi who just struck down one of his masters and council members and has a whole host of emotions running through his head...all of them out of control and out of balance. I'd imagine that for a very strong sith lord it should be very easy to warp Anakin's mind at that time and influence him.

Not bad, I think it does a good job of making the fall of the Jedi order be traumatic.

The acting was adequate at best but Lucas' dialogue is horrible so there isn't much to work with. For as much screen time as Padme and Anikin had together there should have been a much better feeling of what Anikin was going through. His complete and total submission to the dark side seems too abrupt. But probably not because of the plot but more because of the poor script.

But overall it was worth seeing.

I absolutely loved the movie. I've seen it twice and I can't wait to see it again!

Sure it has its flaws, but so do the other five Star Wars movies.

I loved seeing the Millenium Falcon in the movie. You have to have good eyes to see it though. Just after Anakin lands General Grievous' ship on Coruscant (the ship that broke into two) and when they are landing at the space port, on the bottom right quadrant of the screen you'll see another ship landing on the level below them and it is the millenium falcon, or at least another model of it.

I can't wait for the next Star Wars movie! George Lucas has said that he has an idea for 800 years before Episode 1 where Yoda leads the Jedi in defeating the Sith. He just won't be the one making the movie. So if somebody wants to have Lucas breathing down his/her neck making sure the movie is following Lucas' dream, then we may see many more Star Wars movies.

so we're still skeptical, but apparently the rumors about a pre-Episode I Star Wars film by Lucas himself somewhat have a leg to stand on. On the heels of the second weekend in theaters for the madly successful Revenge of the Sith comes loose talk from the creator himself about the future of Star Wars.

Finally saw this at a free screening on Saturday. Wasn't bad IMHO, certainly worth seeing on a big screen, although I generally did suffer more of the "I know how this ends anyways" syndrome than say, watching Titanic.

Was a little surprised at some scenes of the movie if you had small kids. I think the scenes of Anakin's burnt body and implied killing of younglings would scare many kids.

Which of course, brings up the question of why Obi Wan didn't kick Anakin's body into the lava. Being "brothers" is one thing, but if you feel that way, why watch a man being set on fire?

Anakin had some pure cheese lines...his "I love you....No, I love you more..." lines were terrible. HC is destined to be another Mark Hamill....

It's a great idea and could work great, for anyone who's played Knights of the old republic i'd assume it'd be that type of story. A story which is set quite a few hundred years prior to the movies.

You really shouldn't have been suprised by some of the scenes as legally you have to be 14 years old to see the film in Canada, Definetely some scenes not for kids...

But as far as Obi-Wan kicking Vader in the lava, i'm glad he didn't... He was a Sith lord.. he wasn't Anakin Skywalker anymore. He knew he also had to get Padme and deliver the twins. I'm sure he also knew the son of Anakin will be greatly powerful one day and grabbed his lightsaber and was off the rondevous with Yoda and Bail Antilles.

This is all just rambling, but i'm bored. I loved the "I hate you!!" Vader gave Obi Wan as he was buring up.. Probably one of my most favorite lines in the entire series.

In the book, Obi Wan couldn't slaughter a defenseless man, and as much as he hated Vader, he loved Anikan like a brother. So he left his faith to the will of the force.

I also loved the I hate you line, you could just feel that Anikan was being kept alive by his hatred and feelings of betrayal, and his need for revenge.

Of course when the mask started dropping down over his face, you could also feel his anguish and regret.

The movie was ok in the first half, but it gained some neat momentum in the second half.
