I expect The Score will be out of business within 18 months. I wish Sportsnet already was, but it will inexplicably limp along.

Keep in mind the Score doesn't spend a lot of money. They have minimal talent that don't demand a lot of money. The broadcast rights they do have are inexpensive. I'm not saying they're making money, but I don't think they're totally out of it either.
This is just pure speculation on my part, but I don't think they're in that much trouble. They've been running the same programming lineup for the last few years and I haven't seen or heard anything that would lead me to believe they are going to fold.

Wow, that's terrible news! First I've even heard about it. Ya that's a huge blow to the Score, wonder what the reason is. Didn't even realize 24 in 30 was cancelled, that show was pretty entertaining to listen to. Just lack of viewers or what?

I imagine that it was partly because of their Sirius station getting cancelled which is what the show was made for. A lot of their podcasts that were radio shows got cancelled too, Red Heat only does weekly NCAA and NFL picks now, no more Puck Daddy Radio, no more Morning Jones... Footy Show is still in podcast form, but Tim and Sid Uncut was my absolute favorite podcast.
If you wanna hear some awesome stories about The Score and the people that have worked there give the final Tim and Sid podcast a listen, pretty hilarious stuff.

You wish Sportsnet was out of business? Don't like those 60 Flames games you get to watch?

Another network would pick up those rights within a day. They're not doing us a favour by making money off advertising dollars.
"Get" to watch implies we're privileged to be able to pay money to watch a sport on TV. Doesn't work.

Well, before Sportsnet made that new channel there were those 10 or so super awesome PPV games each year...

Who exactly is picking up 60 games a year? Wouldn't be CBC or TSN. So we're left with ...

The Score also has Renee Paquette...that's enough to keep them in business.

TSN just picked up the Jets local rights, why wouldn't they want Calgary's?

the old website was garbage too. Basically, I never went to the old website, and it doesn't look like I'll have any reason to start.

Could someone explain to me what the former Sportsnet logo was supposed to be? It just kind of looks like the Orca Bay logo to me, which you know, makes me hate it on a visceral level.

Wow. Ghetto website. It's like TSN circa 2003.

To me it looks like a stylized image of a player carrying a ball.

Agreed .... what is with the huge chunky and clunky fonts?
It fits with Sportsnet's paradigm though; a low budget rip off of TSN.

They probably would want them. But without Sportsnet to compete for the rights, I doubt they'd pay very much, which might impair our ability to ice a salary cap team...
