It wasnt the ref's fault why we lost tonight.
Iwasnt saying it was the refs fault at all Maver wears that hat for sure but the pi call against smith was typical cfl bs.

Yea, I agree, that was a pretty weak call.

I fully expect a bounce back game next week!

Shame about the result, but that was a thoroughly entertaining fourth quarter! Good job by both teams to make it a fun game.

Is it time to trade Reynolds? Time to give Cornish most of the reps.

Nope that was on the o line not Reynolds.

I don't think Reynolds gets much back in a deal because rb is easy enough to fill.

back from the game
first 3 quarters were not very exciting, not much to cheer for. 3 missed field goals was brutal. Burris started well (thanks to Reynolds) but after they stalled on a few drives Burris and his recievers were off. credit to Toronto's defence as they are pretty good, but the Stamps offence was out of sync. Oline wasn't great at providing Reynolds with good holes. Stamps offence finally got it together in the 4th quarter and a great 2 point convert call!
in the end the defence couldn't stop Toronto from getting a touchdown then a field goal. on the Stamps second last drive Burris went deep and he should've been marching down the field. bad play calling.
Maver missing field goals cost us though. ugh, oh well, can't win them all.

WHAT???? Those two complement each other. One is a power back and the other one is more finesse runner.

I was a little bit puzzled with that long bomb that Burris overthrew to Bryant. I am not questioning why they did it because Burris saw the opening and if it works that was a sure TD. Unfortunately it didn't. I thought that was a poor time management when we are winning by 4 points. They could tried to be conservative and keep throwing short yardage and run the clock down. Maybe we could win the game and maybe not. That was not the reason why we lost the game though. We lost the game because Rob Maver missed 3 field goals. I don't understand why he came back so fast after his injury. He was having problem while healthy, does he think he can help when he is hurting? The Stamps could have win with that Andrew Fabian guy kicking the ball. Even if he missed 1 or 2 out 3, we still could have win the game. Oh well, it's over with.
I have to blame the offense also for the lost. Burris was okay in the 1st quarter but he was out-of-sync in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. He woke up when TO scored TD close to the end of the game. They came close but close is not good enough.
Defense were okay all night. You can tell the Stamps are missing LB Malik Jackson(lost him early in the game) and the DLine is not the same without Tom Johnson(signed in the NFL) and Robert McCune(injured) playing inside. The secondary did an okay job and I think they will improve. OLine was having problem in the 2nd and 3rd quarter but got better in the 4th. It is the first game of the season and we can see improvement in the next few games.

Oline stunk. Burris got going too late but showed positives to build on. Maver was a complete joke and I am not believing what Huff said about an Injury. Its damage control off of his kicker that may have had one of the worst results for a Stampeder kicker for years. The D was good for 3/4 of the game. Issac played awesome. Charles looks like he is a threat everytime and his returns should just get better and better. I am not sure how it came accross on the TV but the fans were booing Maver pretty loudly at the game as he was terrible. Jmo he cost the Stamps the game. 9pts lost on all very make able fg.

Offensive line not good. That has to come around. An awful lot of very good players gone and replaced by ? New kick returner was looking good though.

I thought the first quarter Burris was playing well and looks like all they need is a wake up call. When the Argos scored their first TD, i thought that would be the wake up call i am looking for. Unfortunately on the first Stamps offensive plays after the Argos TD, the OLine messed up with a couple of bad penalties then Burris got sacked. That offensive or lack of offense series sort of put the Stamps back to sleep. I believed Huf said about Maver's injury but I am not sure why he didn't use Burke Dales to do the field goal once he find out Maver is injured again. Dales did it before and it is possible that he could have make at least one of those 3 missed field goal. I am not in favour of booing the home team or a player in the home team.
Are you referring to LARRY TAYLOR? I don't remember having CHARLES for Stampeders.
The worst part of this lost was losing 4 players to injuries and they might miss next week's game against BC Lions. Ken-Yon Rambo, Corey Mace(might be long term), Maver and I can't remember the other guy.

I think the closeness of the loss bites. We probably should have won but considering at one point we were 17-6 down and going nowhere at least it shows the team have a bit of fighting spirit. If the passing game had been a bit more consistent the Stamps would have been out of sight.

Regarding Maver, if he is genuinely injured you have to pin the blame on the coaching staff. No pro sportsman is going to say they can't play if they can walk. In my eyes, that's a coaching call. They pick the team not the players.

I guess with placekickers their mistakes are way more visible than most of the rest of the team. There were mistakes all over the field and that's how we got to 17-6 behind in the first place.

Booing players doesn't do anyone any favours though. If he's got the jersey on, we should be supporting him. Shoot me down though, that was my first game after all. Loved it as an experience, good atmosphere.

Turns out Maver had a torn quad, and had told the coaching staff he was 100% before the game:

Why the hell would Maver tell Huff that he was 100 percent ready when he wasnt..

I know Maver obviously really wanted to play, but it looks like that decision cost the Stampeders the game.

Maver was strutting around before the season, proud to have lost a bunch of weight. I guess he thought in shedding the lbs, he magically gained muscle and leg strength.

He was trying long kicks early in camp with this notion..well, sure enough he hurt himself.

Friday he declared himself good to go, probably feeling the pressure...and not near 100%, hurts himself again, and hurts the team by being squarely blamed for the loss by not being able to kicks 23 yarders, and is likely out for a while.

From the highlights, the rest of the team was meh, but Maver kicking at a CIS level would've had the one wrapped up for the Stamps.
