Chelsea bid 22m for Luka Modric

Quote:
"Luka is not for sale," Redknapp told the BBC

"If there has been a bid of £22m that is ridiculous. There are people being sold for £20m who are not fit to lace Luka's boots."
Hope Levy makes a 2m bid for Drogba today, what an arrogant ass Roman is

Strangely enough, rumour is that Liverpool are in talks with Gago from Real Madrid, he has been deemed surplus to requirements there. He is a solid holding midfielder, but how are they going to fit all of these guys into the midfield?

Yeah, but now I'm worried that this is short-sighted purchasing. All they're doing is putting themselves in a Real Madrid situation where they're going to have a fair number of people surplus to requirements themselves.

I know this will sound blasphemous to Liverpool fans, but at this point in his career

Gerrard can't be starting a CM for a team with top 4 aspirations...

I think Gago/Lucas would be a great pairing with Adam in the mix as well, blood Henderson in a few games and have him take over in a year or two (great potential but he's still very young to be in the first XI for Liverpool)

same thing as last year

and Udinese are in the CL next year and are going to be gutted it looks like, exactly like what happened to Porto 6-7 years ago when they lost Mourinho and all their good players

Pretty well, losing Sanchez is going to be a huge blow for them. He was pretty much the maker of that team. I like Zapata though, seems strong and versatile, can play all back 4 positions well.

That being said, Udinese are going to be CL cannon fodder.

I dont believe it

A. It's the mail
B. it contradicts everything he has said this summer
C. It's the mail
D. It sounds to perfect
E. He has a 6 year contract, if Roman wants him he's worth more than Torres

A - Granted

B - Wouldn't be the first time a player has said one thing only to then weeks or even days later go back on what he just said.
Kevin Nolan for example as stolen from yesterday's football365 mediawatch (Condensed as I don't want to break any forum rules)
http://www.football365.co.uk/story/0...992006,00.html)

Quote:
"The Evolving Loyalty Of Newcastle Captain Kevin Nolan
March 12: "I'm just delighted I'm able to play here week-in, week-out and hopefully I'll be able to do it for a few years..."

April 28: "Negotiations [on a new contract] are at an advanced stage. Most things have been agreed and I would think I will sign next week or the week after..."

May 22: "I don't want to stop here. I want to go on over the next three, four or five years. Being one of the players who has helped get this club back where it belongs, and hoping to take it further, really pleases me."

June 1: "To be captain of this club, it really feels a great honour. It's fantastic and I am absolutely delighted..."

June 7: Nolan rejects the club's contract offer.

June 15: Nolan travels to West Ham for a medical."
Or 'Arry saying Portsmouth was his last club...

C - Granted again and although it wouldn't be the first time quotes are messed up, they do at least claim the player said it, as opposed to sources close to the player, etc. But it might very well be made up, I only trust sportinglife for transfer stories as they only report when it is legit.

D - This is very true. The tabloids always seem to just make links up out of thin air because it seems to make sense, rarely is there anything behind it.

E - Don't think he's worth 50, but neither is Torres, yet he got that fee, so who knows. I definitely doubt he will be let go on the cheap. It won't be less than 30 that's for sure, if at all.

I'm absolutely gutted right now. For some reason I thought Luka was different - why? I have no idea.

Daniel Levy is my hero

Quote:

"I wish to make it absolutely clear, as I have said previously, that none of our key players will be sold this summer. We are building a team for the future to consistently play at the highest level and retaining quality players is crucial to that.

"In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club.

"We made our stance on this issue abundantly clear in writing to Chelsea. They chose to ignore it and then subsequently made the offer public.

"For the avoidance of any doubt, let me reiterate that we shall not enter into any negotiations whatsoever, with any Club, regarding Luka.

"We now consider this matter closed."
and if he hands in a transfer request, which I doubt, tell Chelsea its 40m + drogba or Sturridge

hoping this is a Rooney type situation from last fall and he wants assurances that the squad will be improved, in this case that a striker will be bought

*Slow clap*

Let's see how Barca-like Chelsea can get.

Btw, I'd get Sturridge over Drogs. Screw it, demand both of them.
