So the ability to stream music or video from the internet while you are driving (video for the backseat obviously). And the ability to connect to your home network through wifi, sync up with your music or video storage, download the content at night (when you are parked near your house) and be ready to go in the morning.

I am a bit shocked that it hasn't happened yet.

Would likely require a 4g mobile connection for that to work, not wifi.

Put some piezoelectric materials in the shocks. If we're going towards either partial or fully electric cars, we might as well harvest energy wherever we can.

I'd guess maybe Doppler spread is a big reason? Music probably isn't a problem, but video would be tougher to pack in tons of data, but still have enough error correcting coding (and associated hardware) built in to get smooth streaming? Releasing this too early and having it fall on its face (because the streaming is too choppy) would kill the companies financials.

I think piezo's are still somewhat in R&D. I'd imagine bugs they are working out are loading effects of different piezo's in the network and trying to bring down cost.

Yeah, but human drivers cause traffic jams and kill people.

I'm pretty sure I saw this exact vehicle on a Discovery Channel like 7-8 years ago, tied to a rope on a stick, much like a tether ball. Has any progress been made on this thing in the last 8 years??

So? At some point human drivers will be more dangerous and more of a nuisance than computer drivers and it would be irresponsible for anyone to drive when they knowingly cannot drive as safely or as well as a computer. At that point I don't think it's reasonable to continue to allow human drivers on the road because they enjoy it. If you want to drive, do it at a track.

I genuinely hope I'm dead by then.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I can see car enthusiasts hating it but from a safety perspective it makes sense.

Oh I know. I just was looking at something for the next generation of cars, in the middle future
