Haha, that's pretty funny.

Not sure if anyone watches Yogscast, but their review of the Charlotte mod is hilarious

Thought I'd share my mob trap if anyone is interested in building one.

I made a 34x50 mob trap with 3 block high ceiling and 2 blocks deep for the canals. Water flows to one central point and the mob grinder (lava) makes short work of them. This is based on Etho's design, I just made some adjustments to fit my needs. This trap will work for all mobs, but spiders have a tendency to despawn before they get to the trap, due to being able to climb out of the trap, which is why my web loot is not as good as my other mob loots.

There are some problems I face. I didn't light up the surface enough, so during the day my item per hour is around 1,500. During the night it's going at 2,000-2,500. Rain causes me the least loot as mobs can pretty much spawn anywhere now, so I usually see a big slowdown and am lucky to make it to 1,000 Items/hour

But all in all the trap works awesome. I may consider expanding it into a tower system, but we'll see.

This first picture shows my spawning rate as soon as I flick it from peaceful to hard. Mind you, I am 24 blocks away when I changed the settings and moved up to show the spawn rate in the room after. So probably a second a 2 later, I get all these spawns. Also, I am playing on the laptop, so the framerate sucks. I switched to short view so the fog will show the mobs better.

This picture shows when the mob trap is in full harvest mode. As you can see under "All" I am getting around 145 passive and hostile mob spawns. I heard 200 mobs is the limit. During the day, as the trap continue to work, I can get as high as 180. Numbers aren't really consistent, as when night falls my trap can fall rapidly.

This is all legit without using any sort of edits. I hope to improve on the trap and get to 5,000 items/hour. That's my goal.

I setup a 30x30 trap but didn't pay attention to the "you have to light up all the caves around everywhere" bit at first lol.

I don't have a grinder yet either but I did install an elevator which is pretty cool, all the mobs get dumped to a pen at the surface and my kid and I can rain arrows down on them.

Forgot creepers don't burn in the sun.

This game scares the hell out of it.

It does so because it looks VERY addictive.

I'm thinking the exact same thing. I've been following this thread, along with a couple others for a little while now but haven't tried it yet because I probably won't be able to stop.

I recently kicked a pretty brutal Halo addiction...the wife would probably leave me if I started abusing another game this soon....right before summer.

maybe in the fall

I have friends who play a lot and I thought I would get addicted, but it's pretty 'meh' for me. Other than building a roller coaster and a few crazy buildings, it's gotten pretty boring.

Heh, I know that feeling exactly. For me, I just went to toy around a little with Eve Onlines pretty cool character face creator. Free on a trial account, no hassle, it was fun.

Well then I had all the three characters you can make. Oh well, I guess I can take a lit-tle peak at the actual game, so I'll know a bit more of what my friends have been talking about for years.

...Dammit...

Great effing game. But, on the upside, on Eve I can do stuff for just 15 minutes once or twice a day when I really don't have the time for long sessions, and still keep stuff going.

I never thought I'd have so much fun playing a used car salesman

Well, used spaceships.

It's not for everyone. You get what you put into it really. Recently a couple of us on the server I play on built an LRT system to everyone's bases, which was incredibly time consuming but really fun.

Thanks to the recent redstone circuit changes (powered rails!!) this was incredibly easy to do, and fun!

We also built a huge glass wall of water and I built a mini CN Tower. I'm still loving the game. Haven't touched WoW in months thanks to Minecraft!

I should get around to doing a video for our server one of these days. I know one CP member is currently constructing a Calgary Tower there. I wont post a link to his photo gallery on because he said he wanted to do when it was done.

I've put in tons of hours on survival mode but never tried multiplayer.

What do I have to do? Is it more fun with other people?

I'm playing on a server with a whole bunch of people and it is really fun. They have two modes within the map.

One of them is free build, as the name says it you just build stuff. And then you have Role Playing, people lives in towns and you have to gather resources, setup stores and stuff like that.

I found multiplayer very fun.

Multiplayer is great. Not only do you build stuff as normal, people can admire your work, and it becomes a bit of a competition.

Also, a friend of mine and myself spent maybe 4 hours building a "highway" connecting everyone's places. Pretty fun though!

I built a deformed CN Tower on the server I play on. It looks funny, but that's only because there's really no room height wise in Minecraft. If I built it into the ground, then it could have been the proper scale. I should post a picture here.

That would be me. Its not done but here's a preview. Its a little stout owing to the sky ceiling but catches the essence. Sign up to the server and check it out. Rathji will help you get going on the www.minecrafttoolbox.com server.

I play on a server with a few buddies and we have set up a few mob traps that work pretty well. Mine is a combo of a skeleton dungeon and a room with 4 8x8 spawning pads. I get tons of arrows and I put a glass ceiling in so I can lead the spiders to the lava. I don't get as many creeper spawns as I would like but I still get enough for quite a bit of gun powder.
