Well I must have missed all the stories about North American police officers going around baselessly killing people. Bloodthirsty #######s.

Because all the cops decided to get together, have a meeting, and decided that there wasn't enough criminal blood on their hands already? Pretty bizzare statement considering there's give or take 70,000 cops in Canada over a hundred different departments and agencies.
Quite the broad generalization.
edit: and to your first point, what would you think would be the appropriate distance to shoot/not shoot?

He is just pissed because he spent the week in Edmonton Remand with a population of 800 and the capacity is 350. A little to close for his comfort.

You know, the whole situation is really sad. You have these idiots blaming the police because they didn't use a taser or shoot the gun out of his hand. This stupid kid didn't comprehend how serious his actions were and ended up dead and screwed up a lot of people's lives.
His parents are left without their child, buddies without their friend. The poor police officer who had to shoot this kid. Just think what he is going through aswell. No police officer ever wants to have to discharge his firearm at someone. Now he has to live with this for the rest of his life because some stupid kid thought he was in a movie or something.
All for what???

How did all you tools come to the conclusion I've done time ? I've never been convicted of anything in the criminal code, and I like "good" cops.
If this kid was actually putting the cop in danger, fine. But there is a disturbing trend of police brutality, so much of it, the BC government has publicly hinted that the RCMP contract might not be renewed.
This has been mainstream news for some time now, the government has been trying to rein in the RCMP.

All it sounds like to me is this kid took himself out of the gene pool, to the benefit of humanity at large.

Since when was Edmonton in BC and since when was the Edmonton Police Service the RCMP?

I see what you did there.... convicted (wink, wink)... very smart.
BC is a bastion of anti-police sentiment... I feel sorry for any police officer there...
Not sure if any of those videos show much on anything on there own. While I won't debate that there are certainly instances where police used poor judgement and yes, when they have committed criminal acts, those instances are so few and far between they aren't even worth mentioning.
You on the other had (speaking of drama) see a couple of videos and conclude police are "blood thirsty" brutes.
I guess the old saying is true, on can't logic someone out of a position they didn't logic themselves into...

Somehow I'm a dirtbag for asking a question ? And not blindly justifying every police shooting like you.
All I want to know is how far away the kid was, we'll probably never know the truth. It wouldn't surprise me if the kid was no threat at all, similar to many recent police "incidents".

I hate reposting the same question, but it may have gotten lost above...I'm curious on what you believe is too far or the "line" to start shooting?
