Felix is also having a bit of challenge it seems vs Thiem. Not watching, just following online, but Felix was in control up 2-0 but now they've just started the fifth set, hopefully he can pull it out...

Shame about Raonic. Looked like he was playing a competitive match against one of the hotter players on tour until he started having hip issues.

Some very minor glimpses at that. I'm sure there is some rust having not played much in a while, but there are the same puzzling tendencies to overhit the ball anytime a rally develops and a complete lack of awareness to what his opponent is doing.

I find it hard to believe he's ever going to turn into anything more than a 50 something ranked tour mainstay at this point. He needs a massive overhaul of his approach.

Good to see Felix gut out a long one and shame to see Milos go down with injury....hopefully he's able to go in Acapulco and the Sunshine swing as he was intimating a few weeks ago.

Andy Murray hinting this is probably his last year in tour, saying that there is a definite possibility this was his last AO. Murray, Wawrinka, Thiem, Raonic, Nadal all barely hanging on while Novak continues to win slams. I'm convinced he's not human but a cyborg

Also it's so incredibly sad to see the state of Canadian men's tennis. 2022 AO quarterfinals Shapo lost in 5 to Nadal and Felix lost to Medvedev in 5. Now they can barely win matches at a Grand Slam, someone please remove the curse on Canadian tennis players. I will forever remain hopeful they can both return to their best.

Tennis is one of the most unforgiving sports for athletes returning from long term injury. Judging by how long it took for Zverev to get his game back last year it may be the summer hard-court season before we see Shapo or Felix back to their pre-injury levels. That's a big "if" for Shapo as his days as a top 30 player may be over.

Good to see Felix gut out a tough win over Thiem, feel gutted for Milos though.

Absolutely. And we’re out of the heat. In the shade.

Nadal is the official ambassador to the Saudi Tennis Federation. Surprised by his decision tbh.

Pretty ####ty that he did this, very disappointed in his decision here. Djokovic just played an exhibition against Alcaraz there, and there is talks about a Master 1000s being started there. Tennis has done fine without Saudi money until now, I'd wish it would stay that way, plus it's not like Nadal needs the money.

Tough draw for Rebecca Marino as her Aussie Open comes to end at the hands of Jessica Pegula 6-2 6-4. Bills Nation continues to celebrate.

Felix gets Hugo Grenier next and if FAA is on his game, he should advance to round 3. Leylah is on a collision course with Coco Gauff if she can get can past Alycia Parks later today.

I don't have unrealistic expectations of Felix going too deep but the more sets and matches he gets in the better for his return to the tour as practice can only take you so far and the more sets he can play in Melbourne the better it will prepare him and maybe he will be at a point by Indian Wells where he can be a factor.
