Would Ryan Suter even consider going to Canada? His rumored 4 year ask is just as frightening as Keith.
Probably the best bets would be Mountour or Reilly.

Suter has Dallas and Florida chasing him with 4 year contracts. I know where I’d choose after being bought out for my retirement contract.

Winnipeg?
I think Dillion was a really good move for them, but Holland already flushed all his second round picks down the toilet.

I thought the last day to put a player on waivers for the purposes of buyout was the 26th, so the player could clear and be bought out before the deadline which is the 27th?

In my fantasy world, Edmonton buys him out, then the Flames give him a 1.25 "show-me" contract, he solidifies the 2RW spot and puts up 23g 19a, then the Canucks sign him to a 3-year, 13 million dollar contract and he scores 13g 11a over three seasons for them.
In reality, I don't want him anywhere near the team.

When would you like to be bought out? Before the free agency period buyout window or the window after the arbitration settlements. The earlier the better if it's me... more opportunity to sign another contract so I can play.
Are the Oilers' going to screw over Neal hoping for a trade and in case all hopes die, buying him out during the arbitration window.

I don’t think Neal will have much interest out there and I think his ego won’t allow him to go on a PTO or sign at minimum.

The Leafs are collecting homeboys. May be he can compete their collection with Spezza , Simmonds and Thornton

1.915 for 4 years and still paying Lucic 750k for 2. Plus 1.5 for 2 for Sekera
4.17 tied up for the next 2 seasons on nothing. Love it.

Could have Edmonton traded Lucic to a team with full 50% salary retention back when they moved him to the Flames?
Had they done that they would have had a $3M penalty for 4 years + whatever salary they took back in the deal.
What they did was trade him at 750k retained and pickup a 5.75M cap hit in return. For 2 years it cost them $6.5M against the cap. Now they are looking at $2.65M combined retention and buyout for 2 years, have 2 additional years at 1.9M for the buyout

Between the Neal and Sekera buyouts and the retained salary on Lucic, the Oilers will have $4.17 million in dead cap hit next season.
"Dead Space" is the 8th highest-paid thing on the Oilers cap roster (essentially tied with Klefbom and just behind Kostinem). Almost a million more than Kassian.
