Coleman is good. I would compare him to Josh Anderson, not Brouwer or Neal.

Confirmed. Coleman a Flame per Lebrun.

Is Backlund a reasonable comparison here? Good two way player, mid range offense, similar age at contract signing,
Backlund paid more as a centre....
I guess if you like Backlund you’ll like Coleman and vice versa?

This deal makes me nervous for the back end of this deal. This could be a pretty bad deal in years 4-6.

He played with Coleman in New Jersey. I suspect they're buds.
Zero percent surprised he would know about this (hence why I posted it).

So Hayes can be put in the reliable column.

Maybe a year too long, but Coleman is a fantastic addition

Coleman can skate, can make a pass that isn't to the wrong colored jersey, and is an incredibly smart player. Has a great motor. Nothing at all like Lucic.

Well, not quite haha. It's more like when Commodore broke the Neal signing.

Good point, but again, doubt Hayes would have had much info from Gaudreau about a rumoured trade, as Johnny would not be expected to be involved in any trade talks for himself, especially while his NTC is not kicked in at that time. That would have just been Hayes passing in some rumours he heard. Still a different scenario here, coming out and reporting a specific contract number for a guy he clearly knows and played with previously. Why do that if it’s false info?

Yeah, that's an elite shutdown line if ever saw one.
Not sure where Backs will play this year though. More shoes to drop, to be sure.

How is this not bad like the Brouwer deal? I'd argue it's worse, 6 damn years to a guy that's flirting with turning 30 and even Brouwer was statistically better.
This franchise is why we are always a middlepack bunch. You look at all the teams that were successful in the past. You build a solid core, then add fillers like the Colemans.
We haven't even solidified our core yet and we're adding guys like this for big contracts. Freakin horrible, Tre sucks. I hate him.

Probably somewhere in between Anderson and Backlund is a pretty good assessment.
