As much as I love TAR, this 90 minute format is not working for me. I've been recording the shows and then fast-forwarding through the tasks once a few teams have been through it. If there had been additional tasks, it might have worked, but just showing longer stretches of them doing the same thing over and over is not fun.

The 90 minutes worked well this episode, I felt. Seemed well spaced out in challenges that were interesting.
That dancing challenge was quite impressive, though more for the four other dancers, who had FIVE on their heads.
I liked the 'Big Picture' challenge, though I do struggle to figure out why that one was so difficult. I can see screwing it up once or twice, but as soon as you realize how exacting it was, why would it be that hard?
I am kind of amused by Anna Leigh's competitiveness. I bet that she'd get behind her dad and push, if she could.

"You're sewing in a stupid way."
This week, the teams travel to Jaipur, India and we get one of the closest eliminations possible with a crazy rickshaw race through the street of Jaipur. For once, a driver's "shortcut" actually was one. Morgan & Lena just barely beat Joe & Ian to the mat.
I was surprised that so many teams chose the picture task. I thought the sewing one looked much easier/faster.

Sidenote, Anna Leigh might be the most beautiful contestant they've had on this show. Fit, attractive, long natural red hair, southern accent...

That was a pretty good episode. I was worried seeing Steve and Anna Leigh getting U-turned, but that only dropped them into 7th, and only that because it looked like their electric rickshaw was running out of juice.
This leg seemed like it was pretty much determined by the rickshaw you got. It really screwed Liam and Yeremi

"Can you carry two?"
"Hell yeah, I can."
This week, the teams continue racing in Jaipur and we have the first U-Turn vote. Steve & Anna Leigh lost the vote, but if not for a small screw-up would have stayed at the front of the pack. They still weren't close to elimination.

I'm kind of surprised that Andrea and Malaina are still in the race and now in the top half. It seems like they've been close to some big blow ups but somehow work through it. I wonder how long that can last?
I have a feeling the teams will all be on the same or similar flights to Germany, so it could be anyways leg next week.

That was a pretty decent episode. Seems like they are starting to get a handle on the pacing to make it more interesting.
Most of the challenges seemed pretty easy this week, though the soccerdart one would have been frustrating. The mustard one didn't seem that hard, but man...I'd love to try that one.
I can't believe how badly Andrea and Malaina got lost. I've never seen a team eliminated off-mat before.

"I don't know where I'm going. I'm just driving."
This week, the teams travel to Germany and Andrea & Malaina fall so far behind that we get the first non-Pit Stop elimination in many years.
Also, I think this might be the first time in 35 races that I've actually been to the pit stop for a leg. That chocolate museum smells wonderful.
During the Carnival task, with his hat off, I noticed how much Rob looks like vintage Jerry Lawler...

I have to admit...when they said that, I laughed so hard. Then they hit the money changer, and got the wrong money. Oh, man. I was sitting there thinking "They are so screwed..."
But I will give them props...they got demoralized, but they never gave up. They kept going and racing until Phil got them. So, credit to them for that.

Pretty much as soon as they got to the challenge and realized they had the wrong coins I thought "this will be one of those legs where Phil has to head to the competitors and tell them it's over" because they are so far behind and everyone has checked in. Then when you saw the talking head interviews with them and it was dark it was even more clear how screwed they were.
I sure got a kick out the one always yelling "Out of towners, out of towners" when running into traffic or whatever. As if that immunizes you from anything bad happening!

So much better of a leg. I almost wonder if something happened to planned India challenges where they couldn't do them, and subbed in these street and market challenges, as I'm sure those can be arranged pretty quickly.

This is the first episode where the 90 minutes finally made sense. I know in the past, some tasks get edited out for time reasons, and up until this point, it seemed like a good idea. While a lot of the tasks didn't seem that hard, I thought in the last one you were basically stuck with the mustard tasks unless you could figure out the soccer task. (If you didn't get how to aim the ball, you likely weren't going to be able to figure it out in time.)
Andrea and Malaina were so far out of it. It was kind of nice for the beard brothers though. This wasn't Phil trying to fake them out, they were sure they were last.
I've been around long enough that I remember those eliminations in the past where Phil had to go to the racers.

"We're stupid. We're stupid."
This week, the teams travel to the land of Kopitar. Steve & Anna Leigh make a really bad decision to try to get the Express Pass, which is long gone, but somehow Morgan & Lena get even more lost and the team from Texas survives to see another leg. Greg & John keep on rolling and win their third leg in a row.
I like that the sign language for "phew" is exactly what you'd expect it to be.
- Greg & John (win trip to Namibia)
- Todd & Ashlie
- Rob & Corey

Next week, the teams keep racing in Slovenia.
Also, earlier this week, CBS announced that Survivor and The Amazing Race will come back in the new year with more 90 minute episodes. It sounds like they will be airing the race that was recorded a year ago. Originally, it was edited as 60 minute episodes, which is why they shot a new race for the 90 minute episodes that are airing now, but I guess they decided to re-edit them rather than shooting another whole new race. The next season will premiere in mid-March.
