There was so much spruce tree pollen on my car this morning, it looked like my children's neon yellow antibiotic after I did a quick spritz and wiper pass. Gross.

Significant rainfall is expected early next week, with 75 to 100 mm expected by Wednesday morning.
A long duration rainfall event will impact the eastern slopes of the Rockies on Monday and Tuesday. A broad area from Hinton to Waterton is expected to see at least 50 mm by Wednesday morning, with 100 mm or more possible in some regions of the foothills. Currently it appears as though the greatest rainfall amounts will be near Kananaskis, west of Calgary.

That's a lot of water, and similar to the 2013 flood all hitting the mountain basins as the snow is melting...

Yeah this has potential for another significant event. Those in low lying areas don’t be scared to be prepared

And a large snowmelt that has just barely begun....
Let's hope this is an optimistic amount.

Yeah, the high elevation areas that drain out into those same valleys have a ton of snow still. The melt isn't near what I thought it would be like by this point. I took a couple drives around in the last week and was surprised. Trails up there that usually open June 21 are still 70% snow covered.

In 2013, the mountain areas had like 300mm of rain.
But 100mm onto snowpack into a area that drains into river that then flows through our city is definitely something to look out for.

I hope it's more than 1-3 mm, but less than the 75-100 they're predicting. I have never understood the appeal of storms / damaging weather and people who get excited for it.

Was I the only one expecting rain most of the day today? I crammed in all my yard work yesterday (including cutting my parents lawn as they are away) only to have today be beautiful. Would have been nice to space it out.

I was hoping to play a round of golf with my buddy but he said no because he was worried about the forecast. I told him that I don't even bother looking at it anymore because it is unreliable.

Congratulations, you're one of the few humans on earth that doesn't like weather chaos. I think the appeal is just the amazement of the power of mother nature.

A prolonged and significant rainfall event will bring 75 to 125 mm of rainfall by Wednesday morning.
Rainfall will begin over southwestern Alberta later this evening and spread north by tomorrow morning. The heaviest rain will fall tomorrow. Rain will persist over the area until Wednesday. Locally higher rainfall totals of 150 mm or more are possible.
Look to your municipality and the province of Alberta (rivers.alberta.ca) for the latest information and recommendations.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
