I posted before the Flames started letting in all these PK goals that their PK looked bad and the percentage was being helped by that Vancouver game where they could have been shorthanded the entire game and I doubt the Canucks would have scored.

Their positioning is just weird. Not in good spots to take the point shots or the shots from down low. Gio who has been great this season IMO is way too aggressive on the PK and nobody else covers him when he goes out of position to chase down a guy.

Really nothing needs to be said about Stajan and Brouwer on the PK together.

It really wasn't good though. They were being saved by Smith and allowing high quality shots.

It was obvious watching the PK that it was about to burst.

One thing that has been blatant on the PK all year is that the back-door guy has been wide open. Early on, and particularly against Vancouver, the wide open back-door guy wasn't scoring on their chances.

Now they are.

When Dallas got the PP in the 3rd, I just sat there, waiting for the inevitable cross-ice pass to the wide open one-timer. Sure enough...

Seems to be happening a lot.

What I want to see on the Flames PP: more Johnny.

He is creative and loves to make plays. 5-on-5 his creativity often draws groans when he tries to dangle at the blue line and turns the puck over. Guess what? On the PP, that isn't as likely. Similar to what Giroux does in Philly, I want the puck on Johnny's stick. I want Johnny directing players, and using his creativity and vision to set up plays. It makes no sense why Versteeg is in that role right now with Johnny down low or on the board.

I would leave JG on the ice for the entire PP. Versteeg is awful.
