Still no Beck for the 67's, as they down Mississauga 4-3 in OT. They don't miss Beck much, as they remain the class of the OHL at 18-1.
Huckins had no points in a 5-1 victory over fellow powerhouse Quebec. Sherbrooke is tops in the West (16-4-1-1), while Quebec is tops in the East, and the Q (19-2-0-1).

Fortunately, Coronato and the guys in the AHL do qualify as being in the system lol. This seems like you're actively looking for something to be depressed about.
Most of these guys were pretty low round picks, so it's not surprising they aren't taking the CHL by storm. If you're expecting the scouts to hit on multiple late round picks every year, I think you might be very disappointed.
If you think this scouting staff is doing poorly, I'd suggest doing a good dig on other team's systems and what their late round prospects look like. I think you'd find that the Flames probably are at least average, if not better in that regard.

They are ranked in the bottom 1/4 of the NHL for their prospect system by almost every qualitative and quantitative analysis.
It's not pretty. I am not looking for something to be disappointed about, I am looking at a system of a team who in 4 years might not have a single prospect able to make the jump. Ryan Francis beat the pants off of most of these kids in his D, D+1 and D+2 season and he is currently in the ECHL.
The drafting has been bad the last couple years, even with the dearth of picks.
The team needs to be better here.

It's this conclusion that people dispute.
We know they haven't had enough picks.
I think it's premature to judge how they've used the picks.

The other thing is the Flames have drafted well in the past 10 years. There is also a lot of luck involved in drafting and developing. Looking at the amount of points a prospect is putting up and saying these guys suck is a bit much.

Huckins had 1a,+1 in a 4-1 win over Gatineau. 21gp/9g/8a/17pts,+6, 31 PIM.
No Jordan for Moose Jaw tonight. Interesting note: MJ has a player by the name of Cosmo Wilson.
Ciona with 1a,+1 in a 4-2 win over Kelowna. 17gp/7g/16a/23pts,+18, 20 PIM. Tied for 30th in WHL scoring, 3rd in plus/minus. Tij Iginla assisted on the game-winner- he's at 11gp/1g/5a/6pts,+2, 0 PIM.

No Beck again for Ottawa, who lose to North Bay, 5-0. Interesting note: One of Beck's teammates, Tyler Boucher, was drafted 10th overall by Ottawa in 2021, which raised eyebrows as it was a deep 1st round. As tantalizing a skillset Boucher has (size, skating, physicality), he has disappointed in the offensive department; he only has 11 points in 13 games.
Halifax loses 4-3 to Val D'Or. Whynot had 1a, even. 20gp/2g/8a/10pts,-4, 8 PIM. That puts Whynot in a tie for 30th in scoring for D in the Q, which doesn't seem too bad.

Beck simply has no luck when it comes to injuries...he has missed far to much time this year and last.

Cole Jordan is in the same boat when it comes to injuries, and time missed due to Covid (he only played 23 games in 2020-21). He's injured again this year, after only playing 36 games last year due to injury-although he's not nearly as important a prospect as Beck.
Hoping Beck's injury woes decrease as he gets fitter, stronger, and bulks up.

Whynot with 1a,+1 in a 5-3 win over Rimouski. 22gp/2g/9a/11pts,-3, 8 PIM. Halifax (15-7-2-1) is second in the East, and 4th in the Q. Whynot is tied for 31st in league scoring for Defensemen.
Sherbrooke loses 5-4 in a SO to Val D'Or. Huckins had no points,-1. 24gp/9g/10a/19pts,+6, 31 PIM. Sherbrooke is 5-4-0-1 in their last 10, after going 13-1-1-1 in their first 16. Still first in the West, second overall to Quebec.
No Jordan again for Moose Jaw.
Ciona had 1a, even, in a 3-1 win over Portland. Big win for the Thunderbirds, as they are second only to Portland in the West (although Seattle has the second best win% in the league, just below Winnipeg). 20gp/8g/19a/27pts,+19, 20 PIM.

Probably ends Jordan's hopes of getting an ELC. That 2021 Flames draft class is looking like a bit of a turkey.
